Currow 2-17

Ballymac 0-15

Currow were victorious in this North Kerry League game played at a sunny Currow .It was the Ballymac girls first outing since being crowned Junior C Champions and it showed with a slow first quarter start. Goals win games and Currow got 2 at vital times and that was the difference between the sides. It was a very open and entertaining game with high quality scores from both sides being a feature.

Next Sunday Ballymac are at home to Clounmacon/Moyvane at 12pm.

U16

North Kerry League Division 1 Final

Ballymacelligott v Castleisland Desmonds

03/11/21

Under lights and on a superb John Mitchels pitch, with a huge crowd supporting both sides, the oft delayed Final between the two unbeaten sides met in a winner takes all, do or die battle. The fastly improving Desmonds Ladies side were expected to give our ladies a big challenge. The Ballymacelligott ladies had won this competition at U12 and U14 age groups and were in no mood to relinquish this title. Castleisland played with a sweeper which gave them extra cover in their backline and over the first half helped to keep them in the game, but otherwise it affected their forwards ability to score as it mean’t that Ciara Kerins was able to sweep for us between full back and centre back. At the first water break despite having all the play, Ballymac were behind 0-2 to 1-0. This continued in the second quarter but at half time Ballymac were 1 point in front 1-7 to 2-0. However Ballymac were dominating the game and were were hit by two goals on the counter attack.

By the end of the third quarter, Ballymac had pushed the lead out to 5 points, leading by 2-8 to 3-0. The final quarter saw our ladies finally pull away to score 1-5 against 0-1 for Castleisland, which was the last score of an entertaining game. Squad was as follows, Kerry Hennessy, Alice Brosnan, Anna Collins, Laura Kelly, Ciara Kerins, Kate Collins (0-2), Rachel Griffin, Keelin Enright (1-0), Roisin Rahilly (0-5), Rachel Creedon (0-3), Sarah Scanlon, Ciara Palmer (0-2), Alexa Weiss, Jill Quirke, Aoibhinn Broderick (1-0), Emma Daly, Orla O’Connor (1-0), Ella Quirke (0-1).

Thanks to Sports Direct for the great sponsorship of this side over the last two years.

On a final note, congratulations to our players who have made Kerry Trials.
