Coiste Na nÓg

Our u17 minors faced Ardfert in our first game of the season taking part in the Tralee /St Brendan’s combined boards league at the pitch in Churchill. We battled a strong Ardfert side manfully in the first half and trailed by 2 points at half time.

This was in no small due to the superb performance of Cathal White who assumed the position between to posts at the last minute and a solid performance of our full and half back lines (Michael Culloty, Aidan Horgan, Tom Long, Luke Horgan, Diarmuid Galvin and William O’Donoghue).

At midfield Sean Rice and Shane Gilroy played pivotal roles. Jack Slattery did trojan work as a sweeping centre forward and our forwards Jamie Burke, Mark O’Connor, Micheal Savage and Sam Mansfield acquitted themselves well in difficult conditions.

In the second half our tired legs and a stiff oncoming wind allowed Ardfert to finish deserving winners on a score line of 4-6 to 1-2
