Club Senior Team

Ballymac GAA v Dr Crokes GAA

On Saturday, in dry and at times blustery conditions our Senior Men’s team faced Dr Crokes in Rd. 7 of the Div. 1 County league in Ballymac GAA.

It was the visitors who struck early with goals in the first, eleventh, & twenty second minute which really took the wind out of our sails. However, we continued to battle with scores from Vinny Horan, Donal Daly & Aidan Breen amongst others. Half time Score Ballymac 0-7 Dr Crokes 3-7

Dr Crokes added a further two goals in the second half which ended the game as a contest however our boys battled on until the end and eventually won a penalty which was converted by Vinny Horan.

It was Dr Crokes who left Ballymac GAA with the two points on a final score of

Ballymac 1-11 Dr Crokes 5-16.

In the fine facilities of Milltown GAA, our U-15 Gold team competed in the Div 10 County League final against Kilcummin GAA in what can only be described as blustery and changeable weather conditions.

With the benefit of a stiff breeze in the first half, Ballymac built a solid advantage including scores from Luke Griffin, Gearoid Healy, Conal Savage and a penalty from Micheal Quirke. At Half Time, Ballymac had a 12 point advantage over our opposition.

In the second half it was Kilcummin’s turn to have the benefit of the breeze and Kilcummin were relentless in their attack. The deficit was brought down to a 2 point margin with minutes to go. Our keeper, John Leen pulled off an outstanding save from a penalty in the second half which proved to be a vital stop in the final analysis. It was a relief to hear the final whistle where both teams served up an exciting and quality game of football. Notable mentions for Liam O Rahilly & Jack Collins who came on as second half substitutes and made major contributions to the final effort.  Final score – Ballymac 3-08 Kilcummin 2-09

Ballymac Captain, Maurice Harrington accepted the trophy on behalf of our victorious boys where there was great scenes of celebrations following the final whistle. Well done to the team and management.

Ballymacelligott U13B team travelled to a windswept Listowel Emmet today for what was expected to be a thrilling encounter. From the throwin Ballymac took control scoring the first point of the match.

This was followed by two wonderfully taken goals by Jamie Harrington that came from two long balls from Gearoid Joy and Adrian o Connor.

Ballymac took full control of the game from here on. Points from Rory O Connor, Cathal Carr, Liam O Rahilly, Daniel Moriarty and Adrian O Connor ended the game as a contest. Goals from Patrick Leen, Liam O Rahilly, and Adrian O Connor sealed the game in convincing fashion. Superb defending from Gearoid O Connor, Diarmuid Scanlon, Evan Horgan, and Goal keeper Jack Lynch kept the Emmets side to the minimum. Final score 5-12 to 0-04.

Our U11 boys played at half time in the Ballymac v Dr Crokes game on the main pitch last night. We had 16 boys who entertained the crowd at half time with their skills. There was a great atmosphere around and it was a great experience for the boys to watch the senior team play. Thanks to Joanne Long in the shop for the goodies. Ballymac Abú.

This was the third time that the teams met this season, the previous two were close with Cork just edging them. It was set up for a cracker, the day was perfect, the Pairc Ui Rinn surface was like a carpet and a great crowd was present.
