Club Senior Development Team

Kerry Co. Board Developmental League Division 2
Semi-Final
Ballymacelligott 2-12 Kilcummin 1-14

Following a blistering first 15 minutes (having scored 2-03) of the second half, Ballymacelligott Dev Team defeated Kilcummin by the narrowest margin of one point on Friday night last.

Kilcummin got off to a great start in this game played in Ballymacelligott on a glorious evening for football. Kilcummin led from a goal as the opening score and scored another six points to give them a good lead by 1-06 to 0-02 with fifteen minutes gone.
It looked glum for the home side. The young team never lost heart and resolutely stook to their task and narrowed the margin to 0-06 to 1-08 at halftime

Two points and two fine-taken goals after 6 minutes gave great hope to the home side. With fifteen minutes to go Ballymac led 2-09 to 1-11.

The final quarter was as exciting as it gets. Kilcummin levelled with a point, Ballymac scored a point. Kilcummin scored two points. Once again, the Ballymac lads did not panic they continued on and scored two points to win by a single point.

Winning this game was great. Even better was the grit and determination shown by this young team when all seemed lost.
We now await the time, date and venue for the final which is provisionally fixed for the first weekend in July

School Blitz

A great morning of football was had for our parish schools Senior classes blitz on Friday morning. While the sun failed to shine, it did not stop all the boys and girls putting on some excellent displays of skill and team work throughout the games. A huge thanks to the schools and their staff for supporting both the Junior blitz in April, and the Senior blitz this Friday. Hopefully it will strengthen the link between our schools and the club going forward, and will happen on an annual basis.

A big thanks also to our sponsors for the Senior Blitz, Office & Ink Supplies. Please support at any opportunity.

Well done everyone.

Our U13 blue boys hosted An Gaeltacht this evening for the County league div 3 semi-final. The game was hotly contested with both sides playing some lovely free flowing football. At half time it was all level at 2 – 2. Ballymac came out all fired up at half time and built up a 3-point lead but the visitors were dogged and drew back level again. It was a tough physical battle and, in the end, An Gaeltacht ran our winners 0-08 to 0-06.

Our boys can hold their heads high after tonight’s game – they have improved massively over the past few months. We wish Jack Collins a speedy recovery from his injury tonight.

We played Dr Crokes last Thursday 16th June in Ballymac. The gold team displayed some superb skills and great teamwork. The passing between the boys was just brilliant and earned them plenty of goals and points. 3 players Shane, Jack and Conor were called up from U9s and were a credit to their coaches. It was a great evening of football. Many thanks to Dr Crokes for travelling over to us and thanks to the parents for all their support. We play Listowel Emmets next Thursday the 23rd June away.

We would like to thank Paudie McCarthy of ELECO services for their kind sponsorship towards the cost of footballs for the boys.

Under 9s

Our u 9 s travelled to Listry to take on the locals in the u 9 Go Games.
This was one of the best displays by both the u 8 & u 9 teams all year. Some of the team play was just a joy to watch, with some great skill execution.
Certainly the hard work at training on Sunday mornings is coming to fruition. We encourage all players to keep practicing their skills at home as we look forward to our upcoming games against Currow & SPA.
