DARREN Mullery came to national attention last month when his ‘Rocky’ themed video on Youtube went viral.

The video, which was made by his friends in the Tralee Musical Society, was inspired by Darren’s fight against pancreatic cancer.
As it stands, the video has amassed 110,000 views on Youtube.
This Sunday a benefit night is being held in the Fels Point Point to raise funds to provide a car for Darren and his wife Danielle and to celebrate his 40th birthday.

Currently, Darren, Danielle and their young daughter Noelle, live in Ardfert and he is dependent on lifts from friends or taxis if he should fall ill suddenly and need hospital care.
“We are trying to raise enough money to get a small second hand car,” said one of the benefit organisers Rebecca Roche.
“We are hoping some dealership will come forward and help us out,” she added.

The fundraiser takes place in Fels Point this Sunday night at 9pm. Tickets are priced at €10, entertainment on the night will be provided by Midnite Cafe and a DJ. There will also be spot prizes.
“Anyone that wants to contribute more can also do so on the night or if they can’t make it we have an online fundraising page set up,” said Rebecca.
