Celebrating 30 Years Of Tralee Toastmasters At Ballyseedy Castle

President of Tralee Toastmasters makes a presentation to District 71 Director Brenda Lannon, the most senior Toastmaster Officer in the United Kingdom and Ireland, Division Director Maura Meany.

TRALEE Toastmasters celebrated the 30th Anniversary of their chartering last Sunday at a special function held at Ballyseedy Castle.

Current and former officers and members of the Club were joined by District 71 Director Brenda Lannon, the most senior Toastmaster Officer in the United Kingdom and Ireland, Division Director Maura Meany, Past District Director Gerard Mannix and Fr Amos from St Brendan’s Parish, where the club meets usually on the first and third Monday of the Month.

MC for the night was Derry Butler who facilitated the proceedings in a very capable and proficient manner. The evening consisted of a wonderful meal as well as an eclectic collection of speeches, songs, comic sketches and reminiscences, typical of any Tralee Toastmaster gathering.

The Club have also produced a book “The Written Hand and the Spoken Word” produced entirely in house from blank page to publication comprising of speeches and articles from Tralee Toastmaster members past and present, compiled by Michael MacEgan and Sonia Elston to commemorate the 30th Anniversary.

The speeches put forward in this book represent three decades of writing and speech making within the club.

Honorary Membership of the Club was given to Brenda and Maura in appreciation of their dedicated service.

President James Finnegan said that it had been a truly memorable evening, and a fitting manner to celebrate all the members who have not only contributed towards the success of the Club these past thirty years, but who have also led, supported, encouraged and contributed to their communities locally, regionally and nationally.

He also warmly thanked the members of the Club Committee for their hard work and dedication especially for the Anniversary events, the Management and Staff of Ballyseedy Castle for their hospitality on the night and Father Padraig Walsh, Fr Amos and the St Brendan’s Parocial Centre Staff for their welcome throughout the year.
