Cllr Calls For Immediate Maintenance Work At Building In Fenit

The O’Sullivan’s Bar building in Fenit.

A LOCAL councillor has called for immediate maintenance work on the old O’Sullivan’s Bar building in Fenit.

Speaking at the Tralee Municipal District meeting of Kerry County Council on Monday, Sinn Féin Cllr Deirdre Ferris asked for an an update on plans for the building which is the Council’s ownership.

In reply, Council management said the Fenit Village Design Masterplan, adopted by Tralee Municipal District Members, proposes to retain the structure known as O’Sullivan’s Bar.

No decision has yet been made in relation to the exact use of this structure, with a number of options dependant on an assessment of the structural integrity and internal and internal condition of the building.

Cllr Ferris said the building was in such a state of neglect that it was in danger of collapse.  She asked that something be done immediately in regard to maintenance.

Cllr Ferris said it was a building of historical importance to the area and local development groups should be consulted as to the future use of the building.
