The Kerry Juvenile Singles County Championships

The Kerry Badminton Association Juvenile Championship season got underway on Saturday in Killarney with the county singles competition.  With 175 players taking part, it was one of the largest Kerry juvenile competitions in recent years.

While there was good representation from all the Kerry Juvenile clubs and after 7 ½ hours of some excellent competitive badminton, it was Listowel players who dominated proceedings reaching all 8 finals and winning 7.

Moyvane Memorial Tournament 2024

The Timmy Noonan and John McGrath Invitational Tournament took place this past Sunday the 21st of January. It was great to see such a great entry and so many people supporting the local club competitions despite the horrible weather that was endured over the weekend.

The Munster grade C, F & H championships took place in the SETU Arena in Co.Waterford yesterday, Sunday January 14th. There were some brilliant matches played throughout the day and some of our own Kerry badminton players played very well and managed to bring back some great results and some silverware also!

In the grade H, Hasib Ahmed and Biprojit Jhosh (Both Killarney) made it all the way to the semi final losing out to the ultimate winners of the competition after playing some brilliant badminton all the way through the competition.

In the grade F competition, Adele O’Brien (Killarney) made it to the final of both the ladies singles and the ladies doubles. Where she came away with silver on both occasions. With some great games played along the way she played some very good games.

Finally in the grade C competition, Fergal Hannon (Listowel) made it to the final of the mes singles where he lost out in a close 3 set game. He then went on and joined up with Niamh Hickey where they went all the way to the final and came out on top in a very close final went all the way to the line when they won in 2 sets. 21.19 and 22.20 against a very strong Cork pairing.
