ACCORDING to the big heel reveal survey by Micro Pedi, unattractive feet are the biggest turn-off for Irish women.

Men’s feet are the least favoured body part for Irish women and say unattractive feet would be a dealbreaker in a relationship.

Women worry about three things, when it comes to their own feet; smelly feet, cracked heels and ingrown toenails.

So with this in mind and so many runners in Tralee, I have put together a few tips for fabulous footsies.

Once a week, soak feet for about 20 mins. Use a MICRO pedi, this is a truly innovative device created to smooth dry, rough and cracked skin on the feet.

It contains roller spins that roll 30 times a second to gently and effecively buff away hard skin in seconds. The MICRO pedi is 39.95 and replacments rollers are 14.95, but I have my MICRO pedi a year and the rollers are perfect.

Cuticle oil is great for that excess skin around the toe nails. When the skin is softened apply gently to each nail.
When it comes to removing dead skin there are a lots of new products, Footner was the first I tried.

Feet are wrapped in a bag of solution for one hour and then washed and for the next 23hrs nothing happens. Boring huh?

Then it all kicks off…literally. Every day more and more skin peels away to leave super soft skin but (there is always a but) take care of the feet every week or you will be back to square one.

A new product on the market that is fantastic is Once Heel Balm by Dermatonics. What I like about this product is it is suitable for diabetics – so many products for dead skin removal are not suitable for diabetics.

Scientific studies have shown that around 80 per cent of diabetic foot ulccerations occur on callused feet. So this product is applied once a day and it works really fast and then put on socks or footwear to avoid damage to carpets, bedding and wash hands after use.

Softsole is also a great foot exfoliant. This is a kit and the exfoliant contains salicylic acid, castor oil, glycolic acid and lemon extract to remove the dead skin and the after peel moisturiser is great because it contains peppermint oil, coconut oil and shea butter for softening.

The Softsole foot peel is in pharmacies for €20.35.

Two foot creams I like are peppermint foot lotion by Flourish (run by a Killarney couple) great for keeping feet fresh all day. The body shop also do a great peppermint foot lotion and is great for feel that have a tendency to smell.

62% of Irish women wear high heels as they feel they improve their overall appearance and make their legs longer and leaner while 48% of Irish women aged between 35-54 don’t wear heels as they are more comfortable in flats.

Our favourite celebrity foot crushes are Sarah Jessica Parker in first – think Manola Blahnik. Second place goes to Victoria Beckham (never saw her in flats) and in third place the crooner known as Beyonce.

Next week: Serums.
