TWO teams at Mercy Mounthawk are preparing for All Ireland semi-finals next week.

First up, the under 14 boys play St Pats of Cavan in the All A Ireland Under 14 cup semi final this Tuesday, February 20, in the National Basketball Arena Dublin.

In the previous rounds they beat Gaelcholáiste and Douglas of Cork to advance to the semi final. The team is also undefeated this year in the southwest league with some great talent coming into the school from the clubs around the town.

If the boys are successful they will play the winners of Oranmore of Galway and Presentation of Cork in the All Ireland final on the same day.

The under 15 boys will play Oranmore of Galway on the All Ireland A Under 15 cup semi-final this coming Friday, again in the National Basketball Arena Dublin.

The team lost last year by 3 points  in the All Ireland Cup final  but managed to beat them in the All-Ireland league semi final, so it’s sure to be a cracking game.

If the boys are successful they will play the winners of Gaelcholaiste from Cork and St Joseph’s from Galway in the final on the same day.

“We have had good preparation this week during the break, with a number of training sessions and challenge games so we feel we’re as ready as we can be,” said team coach, John Dowling.

“We would like to especially thank Terry’s Butchers and O’Sheas Travel who have so kindly sponsored jerseys for both teams. We travel to Dublin next week to play some tough teams but as always were prepared and we will do our very best”.

Terry Healy of Terry’s Butchers was delighted to sponsor the U14 team jerseys.

“We’re very happy to sponsor the team and we wish them all the best in the game next week from myself and my wife Anne Marie,” said Terry.
