Seniors     All roads lead to Desmonds GAA Pitch in Castleisland on Saturday July 25th where Na Gaeil take on Glenflesk in the first group game of the Intermediate Championship at 7.00pm. We wish them the best of luck.

Tickets    Unfortunately there are only a limited number of tickets available for the game and when these are distributed among players, mentors and officers there will less than thirty tickets available to supporters.

So unfortunately a lot of our die hard supporters are going to be disappointed. Hopefully GAA President John Horan’s plea to the powers that be, to increase the number of attendees at a game to 500 will be heeded.

Minors    The Keane’s Supervalu Minor County League kicked off last Friday evening with Na Gaeil playing An Ghaeltacht at home. It was great to see this group of players back in action again and both teams played a great brand of football displaying great skill and teamwork.

Na Gaeil got off to a great start scoring 1-2 in the first few minutes but An Gaeltacht responded well with a goal of their own followed by a point which tightened things up. Over the next fifteen minutes Na Gaeil played the better football and won the midfield battle thus creating a lot of scoring chances and converting most of them.

Na Gaeil also defended very well at the other end and turned the ball over on numerous occasions. Half time score was 4-5 to 1-3. The second half was another great battle and the game was very competitive even though the score might suggest otherwise.

There were some great individual performances on both sides and overall both teams should be very satisfied with the level of skill they displayed after such a long lay- off. Na Gaeil on the night took more advantage of the possession that they enjoyed and finished up deserving winners in the end on a score line of 5-13 to 1-6.

U16   The U16’s had a good training session on Sunday in anticipation of their first outing against Churchill this Tuesday evening. A lot of hard work has been done since their return a few weeks ago so good luck to everyone. U16 training continues on Wednesdays at 5pm and on Sundays also at 5pm.

U14    The U14 squad played a challenge match against Listowel Emmets on Wednesday evening last. It was a very competitive match and should stand to the boys going forward. Senior player Darragh Reen ably handled the refereeing duties on the night. The first group game in the competition is scheduled for Wednesday July 29th.The next training session is on Wednesday next from 5pm to 6.20pm.

U12    The U12’s continue training in Killeen Sundays. They are all delighted to be back and are regaining fitness and sharpening the basic skills through playing mini- games.

U10    Sunday’s session began with some core stretching and running drills. The boys were then divided into four groups where possession and hand passing were the skills focused on. The session finished with a game where the players gave it their all despite the intense heat. Well done boys. Training continues on Thursday evenings at 6pm.

U8    The U8’s played well on Sunday morning with the numbers attending showing an increase on last week. Four groups played a 20 minute game for the last third of the session and this was thoroughly enjoyed by all present. Well done to everybody.

Co. Junior Football Leagues    The County Junior Football leagues will commence in August. Na Gaeil is in Group D along with Dingle B, Kerins O’Rahillys B and An Gaeltacht. Round 1 will be played on Friday August 14th, Round 2 on September 4th and Round 3 on September 11th.

Speedy Recovery    We wish our clubhouse manager Seán O’Connor a speedy recovery from his recent illness and look forward to seeing him back at the helm in the not too distant future.

Na Gaeil Volunteers    The demand for this service has reduced since the restrictions on shopping for the elderly have been lifted but Na Gaeil volunteers are still available to help. So do not hesitate to contact us

Clubhouse    The clubhouse for all outside activities and the gym will also be closed until there is further clarification from GAA Headquarters as to when they can re-open. This means that our Monday night bingo, Tuesday night lotto and Wednesday night card playing are suspended until then as well as all other activities that normally took place there on a weekly basis.

Clothes Collection    There is now a Clothes Collection Bin situated in Na Gaeil car park for use by all members of the public.
