Kerry Ladies: Well done to Mary O’Connell and the Kerry Ladies team who beat Westmeath in their second game of Group C in Fitzgerald Stadium last Saturday. They have secured an All-Ireland quarter final spot against Armagh on Saturday the 9th of July.

Seniors: Round 10 of the Co League Div 2 saw us travel to Listowel yesterday, Sunday, to take on Listowel Emmets. The early exchanges saw a point apiece scored. A Dara Devine free saw Na Gaeil lead by 2 points to 1. However Emmets held the upper hand for a 5 minute spell and added 3 points without reply.

Dan O’Connor kept Na Gaeil in touch with a point following a good mark. Just before halftime Emmets added a free to leave them ahead by 5 points to 3 at the break. Emmets stretched that lead to 3 points early in the second half but the response from Na Gaeil was impressive.

Mike Griffin added 2 points, Dan O’Connor scored another and 1 each from Dara Devine and Devon Burns pushed Na Gaeil into a 2 point lead. A free by Emmets cut the gap to a single point nearing the end and it looked like a draw might be our lot but up popped Mike Griffin with 2 frees to get Na Gaeil the win they so badly needed.

U13 boys:  In June downpours in Killeen last Friday evening the young warriors of Na Gaeil U13 Green team won the spoils against a gallant Keel/Listry outfit. Na Gaeil started brightly and with the aid of a cross wind kicked two points, one a peach from the left wing from Ethan Doyle.

The visitors settled and the sizeable home crowd realised that this would be a tense tussle. Eoghan Behan was winning his battle at corner back and netminder Ben O’Sullivan was giving an exhibition of kicking when the game had its crucial minutes. Andy Costello found the net for Na Gaeil after a sweeping move involving captain Philip Doyle and a brilliant through ball from Aaron O’Donovan.

From the resulting kick-out Luca Cronin pinched possession, delivered to Costello who sidestepped the Keel/Listry keeper to put daylight between the teams. Half time score Na Gaeil 2-4, Keel/Listry 0-4.

The second half started with the Na Gaeil men being put under constant pressure from a determined Keel/Listry team who had already beaten Na Gaeil by the minimum a short 3 weeks ago.

Seán O’Connell & Eoghan Daly were making lung-bursting runs for possession and Jacob Drzymala and Rhys O’Connor were on a mountain of ball as tension was rising. A fortuitous goal for the visitors was cancelled out by Costello completing his hat-trick after great work from the energetic Ruadh O’Brien and Kieran Feely.

A super finish from an acute angle by Jonathan Sheehy, assisted by Eoin Hannon meant that a goal separated the sides going into the final minutes. The Na Gaeil backs had to stand firm.

Fionán Collins was colossal at full-back, Jake Barrett was superb and O’Brien’s bravery was rousing the home supporters. In injury time, Keel/Listry won a free kick needing a goal to levelthe game, but there was to be no passing the green wall. Congrats to captain Philip Doyle, who thanked the Keel/Listry players, his coaches and the referee in a great speech.

Well done to all the boys and thanks to all for their support on such a miserable evening! Final Score. Na Gaeil 3-6, Keel/Listry 2-6.
