U 14   Na Gaeil U14’s are playing Ballymac in the County league semi-final Tuesday evening in Killeen at 7pm. Ballymac finished top of Division 2A in the league phase of the competition.  We are hoping for plenty of support on Tuesday evening to encourage and cheer on Na Gaeil.

U 12   Training for U 12 boys continues  this Thursday  evening  from 6.30 to 7 30 pm.

U 10   Training continues in Na Gaeil every Sunday at 11am. Don’t forget to bring your gum shield & some water. The next under 10 Go-Games blitz is due to go ahead next week hosted by Austin Stacks. Watch out for a text from J.J. with all the details. In the meantime don’t forget to keep practicing your skills at home.

U 8   Last Thursday we had a very successful outing at the under U8 Blitz at Kerins O’Rahilly’s. All players got valuable game time and an enjoyable evening was had by all. Thanks to the hosts for a very well organised event.

We will keep you posted about future games which will take place over the coming weeks. We had fantastic numbers for the Sunday’s training session at Na Gaeil pitch. After training each team member was presented with a ball and a skills poster by club legend Andrew Barry.

We really appreciate Andrew’s efforts in making sure this was a memorable occasion for our players, parents & coaches. Training continues next Sunday at 11am. Don’t forget to take your ball to training. Check out The Na Gaeil Facebook page and see your picture with our very own Kerry player Andrew Barry.

U 6   Another great training session was had by all last Sunday.Plenty of help was on hand to ensure all skills were practiced. With each week the boys and girls are becoming more comfortable with the ball and putting their skills into practice in the match at the end. Well done all!

Na Gaeil Ladies:  Na Gaeil v Inbheair Sceine Gaels, Senior County Championship
We made History on Sunday as we played in our 1st Championship game as a Senior Club. We travelled to Kenmare for a 12.00 throw in. But due to College Exams, we were missing a few of our Senior Players.

We started brightly enough playing into a strong breeze and we were holding possession quite well but ISG were defending stoutly making it tough to break them down. ISG who were boasting an array of Kerry Players were quick to go forward with Laura making a couple of good saves.

Aine had a tough task marking their excellent  no14 but kept her quiet. Susan and Kim kept their corners quiet with Kate Anne and Sarah running the wings and Brid standing strong in the centre.

Eilis was getting chances at running forward from midfield as Nora was defending well around midfield. ISG were using the wind to great effect with some great long range Points. Niamh had a chance in the 1st half for a goal after Erika found her but for a great save by the keeper.

ISG held good possession in the 2nd half and made it difficult for us but points from Jadyn, Meabh and Eilis kept us in the game. We lost Kim early in the 2nd half which disrupted us.

We had to shuffle around with Niamh coming into the backs and Blaithnaid, Eimear and Caoimhe in the forwards, It took us a while to settle but a final flurry of 3 points from Meagan helped us to finish the game strongly. But it was not enough to overcome a strong experienced ISG team. Next game is against the Tralee District Team.

Team; Laura Fitzgerald, Susan Fernane, Aine Kelliher, Kim Enright, Sarah Quigley, Brid O Connor, Kate Anne O Connor, Eilis O Connor, Nora O Connell, Jadyn Lucey, Meabh Barry, Meagan Sheehy, Blaithnaid O Connor, Niamh Moriarty, Eimear Nolan, Caoimhe Hanafin, Erika O Sullivan

U 14 Ladies   We played our third Division 2 County League game last Sunday where we were at home to Scartaglin.  We were missing some players but thanks to some of the younger players we were able to field a full team.

Megan Fernane was captain on the day.  We played into the wind in the first half and were leading by 0-4 to 1-0 with a minute to go in the first half only to concede a penalty.  Aine in goal got a foot to the ball but it still made it into the net.

Halftime score was Na Gaeil 0-4 Scart 2-0. Even though we had the wind advantage in the second half it was Scart that lifted their game and their defence held our girls to just 3 points.

When they broke forward the Scart attack punished us and as they say ‘goals win games!’ It finished Na Gaeil 0-7 Scart 4-5. This is a very tight league and we are still in a strong position having won 2 and lost 1 game.

Na Gaeil Ladies U 14

Na Gaeil Ladies u 14 team that played Scartaglin last week.

We play Legion away on Wed. evening.  On a separate note – the preparations for the Feile competition are going well.  This should be a huge experience for the girls and also the club.

Heartiest congratulations to Jadyn Lucey who helped the Kerry U 16’s defeat Cork in the Munster Final on Saturday.

U 12 Ladies   On Tuesday night we travelled to the top of North Kerry to a scaraibhín breeze that would’ve cut the corrugated iron off the roof of the old stand of St Senan’s.

Depleted in numbers due to the absence of Adelina and Clodagh and injury to Grace we knew that an extra effort would be necessary to graft out a result from Mountcoal.

We were up against it when we conceded an early goal and brave Emma Dewey was obliged to retire early and Winnie was forced back into her favoured cúl báire position!

Siena moved into lár na páirce and was possibly our best player on the night. Our defence of the two Aoifes, Shania and Chloe Quillinan stood firm and repelled attack after attack. Ailbhe also worked tirelessly and contributed 1-1 from play.

Cara Gannon was a revelation on the 40. Her handling was superb and capped a fine performance with a great point in the second half. With more match practice she’ll be a very strong player.

The turning point in the game came with a hailstorm ten minutes from the end when Finuge were lodged inside our 21. In horrendous conditions, Kara Grealish and Caoilinn worked the ball through to Siún and she showed all her soccer skills to pop the ball over from 25 yards.

After that inspirational point we kept the ball the Finuge half and Siún, helped by Elsie and Peg, notched up two more points to level the game at the death.
Overall a great performance on a cold night and training continues on Saturday.
