Na GaeilNA GAEIL U14: The under 14 team played away to Annascaul/Lispole on Saturday last and  both teams played exceptionally well on adverse and windy conditions.

Playing against the wind in the first, the visitors were down by four points on the short whistle but accounted for themselves very well. The second half was nip and tuck with the host just about shading by 2 points.

Again, some players showed real appetite against a team we will be playing in our first Division One county league game on April 1st next. Training this Tuesday in the Sorts Complex at 5pm for games based session.

Panel: Adam Burke, Mathew Burke, Jack Bourke, Enda o Connor, Jack o Brien, Darragh Reen, Tom Walsh, Barry Sugrue, Tadgh Horgan, Richard McCarthy, Johnaton McCarthy, Jimmy O Sullivan.

NA GAEIL U12 GIRLS: An encouraging start to the season for our u-12 cailiní despite the loss to a strong Ballymac team.

Playing against the wind in the first half our defence needed to play well and Clodagh o Sullivan in particular, ably assisted by Shania McCarthy and Aoife O Sullivan repelled wave after wave of attack from the home team.

Our wing backs Emma Dewey and Caoilinn o Brien gave Sheila ní Loingsigh great options to avoid the marauding midfield of the opposition as well as leading frequent sallies on the rearguard of the county’s largest parish.

Sheila herself pulled off one fantastic save to help keep the advantage of Ballymac at half time to six points.

Buoyed up by a reshuffle by coach Philip and the wind at our backs ár gcailini, led by the battling Freya o Connor and Muire Kingston in midfield, grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck and were rewarded in the second minute of the new half when Eimer Ní Shúilleabháin took a quick Cic saor which hit the crossbar, Ciara Rath pounced on the rebound and smashed the ball to the roof of the net.

Na Gaeil now had the majority of the play and Kayleigh Costello and Megan Fernane were causing so much difficulty to the home defence that the Ballymac mentors were forced to drop extra players deep.

We were unlucky to hit the crossbar on two occasions and Siún Fitzgibbon won a good free for us which was converted by Eimer to leave us within a score or two of Ballymac.

Grace Savage went close with a great kick but our great second  half performance wasn’t enough to close the lead conceded in the first half.Final score: Baile Mhic Eileagóid 2-3 Na Gaeil 1-3
