Orlagh Winters ProfileOK so I know that some of you don’t want to hear the “C” word but you are going to have to face up to it sooner rather than later, Christmas is on its way.

Maybe the fact that I have been engrossed in Christmas decorations for the last two months I have a head start on most of you but it really is my favourite time of the year. So what is on my wishlist this year?

I have written in previous posts about how I am a firm beiever in  shopping local as it is so important to support local businesses which in turn will create employment in our town.

This year I would urge each and every one of you to think before you shop on line and before you organise a shopping trip to another town or city what spending your money here in Tralee will do for our local economy.

I have chosen five gifts from local shops that if anyone would like to buy for me I would not object!

1. Rings or indeed any piece from the Virtue Keepsake Range from John Ross Jewellers are a must this year. What I love about this range of jewellery is that it is so luxurious but with an affordable price tag.

2. Clarins double serum available at CH Chemists. I have been using this for the last twelve months or so and I absolutely swear by it. Think a facelift in a jar, amazing results and a lot cheaper than surgery.

3. A day in the award winning Nadur spa at Ballygarry House. Sheer relaxation and luxury with a huge range of treatments available. A detox treatment is always a good idea too for the over indulgence that we are all guilty of during the holiday season.

4. A voucher for dinner in any of Tralee’s finest restaurants, Cassidys, The Roast House, D’arcys or Bella Bia, we really are spoiled for choice for wonderful eateries here in Tralee. I love a gift like this as you extend your festive period a little as more often than not you will use it when the season is over.

5. One of the wondeful pieces from the Newbridge collection available at Dan Fitzgerald’s. This year’s Rose of Tralee boasted the best collection yet and winner Maria Walsh is really showing the world the collection at its best. In fairness everything looks good on her but my favourite is the vintage collection.
