BEAUTIFUL sunshine created ideal conditions for the annual Tony O’Donoghue walk from the Blennerville Windmill Car Park on Saturday evening.
The dry weather meant an even bigger crowd turned out than last year for the event which has raised in excess of €45,000 for Kerry Hospice in the past five years.
The walk was started by St Pat’s football club a few weeks after Tony passed away five years ago to pay tribute to his contribution to the club which extended to 50 years both as a player and in the management team.

Nearly 200 people left the windmill carpark, going up the canal walk, turning right at the lock gates to come back to the Village via the back of Lohercannon down by Hare Street.
Afterwards many of the walkers went back to Skelper Quanes for refreshments and all participants received medals.
Tony’s daughter Andrea wished to thank everyone who came to the walk, Skelper Quane’s for their hospitality and musicians Sharon Langston, Gearóid McCarthy and David Rae for their time.
“We’ve had lovely weather and I’ve seen a number of new faces here which was great, so we’re grateful to all who showed up,” said Andrea.
There were generous contributions into buckets for the Palliative Care Unit and the Kerry Hospice Foundation and a raffle was held for many spot prizes. Scroll down for photos…
