THE Summer Stars reading programme ran in public libraries throughout the country, including in Tralee this summer and 180 children received certificates in Tralee Library on Saturday.

Each child who registered for the programme at their local library in Kerry received their own Summer Stars Reading Card to record their progress and the Summer Stars Reward Stamp was added to their card at the library for each book read. The challenge was to read six books over the summer.

The Summer Stars programme provided the whole family with an opportunity to explore the full range of events and facilities which are available in their local library, such as story time sessions, children’s activities, access to computers and internet access, and children’s books for all ages.

Summer Stars was a free programme, open to all children.

Last Saturday each child who completed the challenge was presented with a certificate as well as a prize pack. These were presented on behalf of Kerry Library by the Cathaoirleach of Kerry County Council, Cllr Michael O’Shea. Scroll down for photos…
