THE countdown to the summer holidays is on for Tralee primary schools and in Blennerville they’re keeping themselves busy with activities in the final week.
Tuesday morning saw Anne Culloty, Health Promotion Officer with the HSE, arrive at the school to deliver the Health Promoting Schools Flag.
“There were projects going on in all classes throughout the year, organised by the Health Promoting Committee which is made up of pupils from first to sixth classes,” said Principal Robbie O’Connell.

“There are certain criteria to fulfil to get the flag and great credit is due to teacher Ms O’Sullivan who co-ordinated the efforts,” he added.
The flag was presented after the children completed the ‘Daily Mile’ which has been going on every day at the school for the past couple of years.
Tuesday also saw pupils take part in ‘Funky Shoe Day’ where pupils wore a different shoe on each foot. This was held in conjunction with the Walk In My Shoes mental health awareness and education campaign.
“We’re trying to highlight in a subtle way how important it is to walk in the shoes of someone else and be aware that something might by going on in the lives of a fellow pupil and just to be kind really,” said the Principal. Scroll down for photos…
