HOLY Family is a hive of activity this week as pupils taking part in Maths Week.

The events of Maths Week were designed to present the subject as fun. Each day begins with a daily maths joke and a memory task.

Over the course of the week, the pupils visit the ‘Hall of Numbers’ where they experience all strands of the maths curriculum in a hands-on and concrete approach, from measures to shape and space and data and problem solving.

Maths Week organiser, Ms Linda Hanafin, invited local bingo aficionado, Niamh Burke, to the school and the children took part in the bingo games, having great fun.

They soon got the hang of it and many full houses were achieved. Ms Hanafin noted the importance of children being familiar with numbers and how bingo helps overcome any fears of numbers and maths in general.

The week concludes with a maths quiz for the whole school on Friday, with pupils using the knowledge learnt over the course of the week. Scroll down for photos…
