AUSTIN Stacks and Kerins O’Rahillys both enjoyed wins in the first round of the Garvey’s Supervalu Kerry SFC last night, but St Brendan’s were well beaten by East Kerry.

Kerins O’Rahillys travelled to Listowel to play Feale Rangers and came away 3-15 to 0-16 victors. The real damage was done in the 10 minutes after half time, when they scored 2-2 to just two points in response. The goals in that period came from David Moran and John Ferguson, adding to Gavin O’Brien’s first half strike.

With the Tralee side 10 points to the good with 20 minutes to go they were never going to let that lead slip and finished eight points clear at the final whistle.

The reward for this victory is a clash with champions Dr Crokes next weekend.

The Rockies hit the ground running with a point from Kieran Donaghy and by the eighth minute they were 1-3 to 0-1 up thanks to a Pa McCarthy penalty.

When they goaled again on 21 minutes they were 2-8 to 0-3 ahead and out of sight, despite only adding one more point before the short whistle to Kenmare’s three.

There would be no comeback as Stacks kept the visitors scoreless in the second half — thanks in part to a penalty save by Robbie Murphy on 38 minutes — and rattled off 14 points to finish 2-22 to 0-6 winners. They now face South Kerry in the next round. (Scroll down for more of Adrienne McLoughlin’s photos)
