Tralee CBS continued their resurgence as a footballing force with a comprehensive victory over St Brendan’s Killarney in winterish conditions in Farranfore on Wednesday afternoon.

The win for Tralee avenged last week’s close encounter with the same opposition in the Frewen Cup (u16 1/2) final.

The foundations for this victory were laid in the first half which saw the Green boys playing some excellent expansive football. The Green led at half time on a scoreline of 1-13 to 0-03.

It was a great team performance with Mike Kelliher (grandson of Mitchels five in a row legend Seamus Roche) who scored 3-5 and Jason Mortimer particularly catching the eye.

CBS goal no. 4 and Mike Kelliher's 3rd.

The Green will look forward to this Russell Cup final with great anticipation. Recent history has seen Pobal Scoil Corca Dhuibhne and St Brendan’s Killarney dominate schools football.

Managers Fergus Clifford and Damien McLoughlin will hope victory in this tournament will be the catalyst for future glory. The final is scheduled to take place on Friday April 17 where The Green will take on the winners of ISK and PSCD who play this Friday March 28.
