A SCREENING of the new offering from local film producer, James McCarthy and his wife Catherine, featuring the village of Ardfert will take place next week.

The two hour film ‘Ardfert — A Historical Gem’ was two years in the making. The village is steeped in history, from St Brendan the navigator to Roger Casement, and much more.

In the documentary, they take you back in time and reveal some of what was discovered during the archaeological excavations carried out on Ardfert Cathedral, the ruins of which still stand proud today.  They also take you through the history of the friary, Banna Sea Rescue and discover a little more about Roger Casement.

“The local people spoke about the witnesses in Casement’s trial and how they were brought to testify against him against their will. It wasn’t fair to the Ardfert people,” said James, who promises the film will set the record straight on what happened.
