Seven Things To Do This Weekend Around Tralee

While last weekend was a quiet one around town events-wise, there’s a whole host of things to get up to over the next couple of days in Tralee…

Friday

1. Culture night…

There’s a whole host of events happening tonight all over town for the annual Culture Night. Singing, dancing, live music, art and much more. Check out the list of events here

2. Foodie’s delight…

The Tralee Food Festival kicks off from 6pm at Tralee Bay Wetlands with Spa Seafood’s Restaurant who will be serving Seafood Taster Plates with Lakeside Cafe looking after the wine. The cost is €5 per person.

Saturday

3. Make-up masterclass…

A Real Techniques Makeup Masterclass with Jade Mullett Pro MUA takes place on at 2pm at CH Chemists. Tickets are €5 and are fully redeemable with Real Techniques purchases on the day.

Jade, a Profesional Make-Up Artist and Irish Brand Ambassador for Real Techniques, juggles her time between modelling, Xposé slots, tutoring in the LA College of Creative Arts and working in her own personal make-up studio. It’s set to be a fantastic event with competitions and spot prizes on the day too.

4. A tasty trail…

The Food Festival continues with an artisan market in the Square, Cookery demos and a taste trail which takes in hotels, bars and restaurants all over town. Later there’s a craft beer trail. For the  taste trail map click here.

5. Championship action…

There’s some great championship action in prospect when Kerins O’Rahillys take on East Kerry and Austin Stacks play West Kerry in a double bill starting from 4pm.

Expect a big crowd at the stadium and if the rains come (as expected) you better get there early to get a seat in the stand. Both Tralee clubs stand a good chance of progressing to the semis but it won’t be easy.

Sunday

6. Kids cycle…

Over in Ardfert, a Kids’ Fun Cycle has been rescheduled for Sunday morning. Registration from 10am to 10.45am and the cycle will begin at 11am sharp from the school.

There is an option of a 5k and 10k course. Registration is €10 per child or €25 for a family. All participants will receive a finishers medal and refreshments. Children must be eight years or over and accompanied by an adult.

7. Battle for the title…

Both Na Gaeil and Ballymacelligott are already promoted to Division 2 next season, but they will take to the field for the County League Division 3 title decider from 1pm at Ballymac GAA grounds.

Na Gaeil might have one eye on a Junior Premier Club Championship semi-final next week against Firies, but they won’t want to lose bragging rights from their neighbours out the road who’ve had a great league campaign.

8. Final places beckon…

Back in Austin Stack Park, there’s a Kerry senior hurling championship semi-final double bill. St Brendan’s play Lixnaw at 2pm, followed by Kilmoyley against Ballyduff at 3.30pm.

Expect the north Kerry hurling fraternity to decamp to Tralee for a thrilling afternoon of hurling.
