THERE’LL be a new face in the Tralee Municipal District of Kerry County Council next month as Fianna Fáil’s Mikey Sheehy has been elected after the 11th count at the John Mitchels GAA Complex this evening.
He was joined by Cllr Jim Finucane of Fine Gael (who incidentally is married to Sheila Sheehy, Mikey’s aunt) who was also elected after his party colleague, Bridget O’Brien’s votes were distributed.
That just leaves two more seats to fill with Sinn Fein’s Pa Daly likely to be elected, especially with the votes of his eliminated party colleague, Cathal Foley, now to be distributed in Count 12.
Sam Locke (Ind) is almost certain to hold out for seventh seat to beat off the challenge of Anne Marie Fuller of the Green Party.
The Eleventh Count result…
Mikey Sheehy (FF) 1,676 (+ 131)
Jim Finucane (FG) 1,630 (+ 207)
Pa Daly (SF) 1,400 (+ 56)
Sam Locke (Ind) 1,228 (+ 84)
Anne Marie Fuller (Green) 974 (+ 54)
Cathal Foley (SF) 753 (+ 16)
