REPORTS ;
(Youths) Jimmy Falvey Memorial Cup Final ; Fenit Samphires 2-1 Park Fc ,

St Brendans Park Youths before the Jimmy Falvey Memorial Youth Cup Final on Saturday 6th May 2017

Our youth team just came up short on Saturday night against a well organised Fenit Samphires side in the Jimmy Falvey memorial Youth Cup Final. In the game that came right down to the final whistel with the result in doubt the Park boys and management can be very proud of their efforts .

Fenit started the quicker and it took two great saves from David Oba to keep it scoreless early on.Cian Holden had our first chance after ten minutes with a strike from outside the box which was just off target before a header from Conor O’Brien just flashed by the outside of the near post from a Ciaran Killeen cross.

Mid way through the first hald Fenit took the lead after they pounced on a defensive error. Our responce was excellent and Conor O’Briens curling effort went just inches over within a minute after falling behind. Just before the break we created two more excellent chances only for Blake Bolster and Conor O’Brien to both be denied by the Fenit keeper.

The second half started and once again Fenit seemed to start the better with David Oba again called into action early on. On the hour mark Conor O’Briens volley from outside the box was again saved by the keeper. The Fenit keeper then had to go at full stretch to save Pa Roche’s well struck shot from outside the box before Cian Holden saw his close range effort fly over the cossbar.

With just 18 minutes remaining Fenit doubled their advantage from a well take corner routine. From here on however it was all Park as we really had nothing to lose and pushed everyone forward. This pressure paid off with 9 minutes remaining when a long free fell to Cian Holden who rolled the ball into the far corner giving the advancing keeper no chance.

In the dying minutes we again pushed forward in search of an equaliser and it nearly came in the final minute of normal time when Kevin Browne got on the end of a long ball and from close range his effort was somehow saved by the keeper. Our final chance came in the 92nd minute when a corner from Blake Bolster was powerfully headed goalwards by Mark McDonnell but sadly it just flew over the crossbar .

Team; David Oba, Maciek Morawski, Mark McDonnell, Dylan Burns, Adam Ward, Ciaran Killeen, Pa Roche, Blake Bolster, Aaron Ward, Conor O’Brien, Cian Holden . Subs ; Dean O’Connell for Morawski , Alex Rowan Keane for Roche, Eoin Lynch for Conor O’Brien, Kevin Browne for Adam Ward .
