Quane’s Cheltenham Night Raises Over €35,000 For Help Rose Bloom

THE proceeds of a fantastically successful fundraiser were presented this week to the Help Rose Bloom campaign.

Skelper Quane’s Cheltenham Preview night was held on March 3 and hundreds converged on the popular Blennerville hostelry to hear tips from the stars of the racing world.

When all was said and done, an incredible €35,980 was raised from the evening and the O’Flaherty family were presented with the cheque by Tom Quane.

Little Rose O’Flaherty from Ballymacelligott, has a rare and serious genetic neuromuscular condition called Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), Type 1, and funds raised from the event went to the Help Rose Bloom campaign.

In a Facebook post, Tom thanked the businesses and individuals that sponsored the night, donated spot prizes, supported the auction, purchased tickets for the event and attended on the night.

He also thanked the panel members Bryan Cooper, Phillip Enright, Jack Kennedy, Gordon Elliot, Berkie Browne and Leon Blanche and MC Pat Healy.

He also thanked the committee members who put so much time and work into organising the night and also the main sponsor, BoyleSports.

OVER 1o years since Skelper Quanes started their Cheltenham Preview events, last night’s was by far the biggest and most successful ever, with thousands raised for a great cause.

Thanks to Tom Quane adding on an extension to the premises in Blennerville during the COVID pandemic, they could accommodate well over 300 people at the sold-out event which saw a star-studded line-up of experts give their choices for the upcoming festival.

A special guest on the night was little Rose O’Flaherty from Ballymacelligott, who has a rare and serious genetic neuromuscular condition called Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), Type 1, and funds raised from the event went to the Help Rose Bloom campaign.

Pat Healy was the entertaining MC asking the questions of well-known trainer Gordon Elliott, well-known Kerry jockeys Bryan Cooper, Jack Kennedy and Philip Enright, Listowel bookmaker Berkie Browne and Leon Blanche from BoyleSports.

There were also amazing spot prizes and a super auction of items like golf with Darragh and Tomás Ó Sé; golf with ‘Bomber and Ogie’; autographed riding breeches from Rachel Blackmore; an autographed Ireland rugby jersey and two nights for two people at the Skellig Hotel.

While the total amount has not yet been revealed, the generosity of those present saw thousands raised for Rose’s plight.

Both the O’Flaherty family and Tom Quane expressed their gratitude to all the sponsors, the panel who gave their time and of course all who attended and donated money to make it a memorable night. Scroll down for photos…

Thousands Raised At Keane’s Of Curraheen For Help Rose Bloom Campaign

AN event held before Christmas at Keane’s of Curraheen raised an impressive amount of funds for a young girl from Ballymac dealing with a serious illness.

The ‘Santa Experience at Keane’s’ was held on December 4/5  and, along with the proceeds from a special Christmas raffle, raised €11,697 for Rose O’Flaherty’s ongoing treatments.

Rose is a 4 year old girl from Ballymac who suffers from a rare and serious neuromuscular condition called Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Type 1.

There is no cure for SMA but there are treatments available to help manage and reduce discomfort.  There is a treatment plan in place but they need the public’s support and the Help Rose Bloom campaign was launched last year.

The event at Keane’s was outdoors where families had a private meeting with Santa who gave a present for each child and there were lots of treats and surprises along the way. All public health guidelines were adhered to during the weekend.

John Keane said he was delighted to host the event to help out the O’Flaherty family, while Karen O’Flaherty thanked John and the local community for the huge effort that went into organising the event and the raffle.

Tralee Rotary Donates To Help Rose Bloom Campaign

TRALEE Rotary has helped out a young girl who is battling a serious illness.

Four year old Rose O’Flaherty from Ballymac lives with Type 1 Spinal Muscular Athrophy (SMA). Currently there is no cure for SMA, but there are treatments available to manage symptoms and reduce discomfort.

A group of family, friends and local community have set out to raise funds to help with her needs. The campaign has raised over €80,000 since it was launched back in June.

Tralee Rotary has donated €500 and its President Sharon Hayes handed it over to Rose and her mom, Karen, on Monday. For more information about the campaign check out www.helprosebloom.ie

Help Rose’s Campaign With Born To Run’s 5k Fundraiser This Weekend

THE Tralee Born to Run Club are all set to host their fundraising run to help a little girl from Ballymac.

The Help Rose Bloom 5k Virtual Run is being held this Saturday and Sunday in aid of four year old Rose O’Flaherty who lives with Type 1 Spinal Muscular Athrophy (SMA).

Currently there is no cure for SMA, but there are treatments available to manage symptoms and reduce discomfort.

Competition To Win €6,000 Bathroom Renovation Launched In Aid Of Little Rose

A LOCAL company has donated an amazing prize to help a campaign for a young Ballymac girl.

O’Sullivan Bathroom Renovations, based in Liber House, Monavalley, have generously donated a €6,000 Bathroom Design and Renovation for the winner of the competition, where people can buy tickets to enter.

All proceeds will go to the Help Rose Bloom Campaign which was set up by a group of family, friends and local community this summer, in aid of four year old Rose O’Flaherty who lives with Type 1 Spinal Muscular Athrophy (SMA).

Ticket for the competition cost €10, three for €25 and five for €40. The draw will be live up until December 1, 2021 when the lucky winner will be chosen.

Annual Ballymac Vintage Rally To Take Place Next Month

AN array of vintage vehicles will take to the road once again from O’Riada’s Bar in Ballymac next month for a great cause.

The Kingdom Veteran Vintage & Classic Car Club’s 11th annual Ballymac Vintage Car and Honda 50 Run is being held this year in aid of four year old Rose O’Flaherty who lives with Type 1 Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA).

Currently there is no cure for SMA, but there are treatments available to manage symptoms and reduce discomfort.

€10,000 Raised For Rose As Daisy ‘Takes A Dump’

A SPECIAL fundraiser was held on Saturday in Ballymacelligott in aid of a special young lady.

The Help Rose Bloom Fundraising Group held an event called Daisy Does A Dump on the Godley Family Farm at Rathanny, Tralee.

Fundraisers sold the entire one thousand tickets and in doing so raised €10,000 for four year old Rose O’Flaherty’s fundraising campaign. Rose suffers from a rare genetic condition  condition called Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Type 1.

The field was divided into 1000 equal squares by engineer John Lynch of Killorglin and project manager, James Godley.

At 2pm, Daisy the Cow was introduced to her new paddock by farmer, Shane Godley. The event was overseen by Kerry IFA Chairman, Kenny Jones and Cllr. Fionan Fitzgerald, Cathaoirleach of Castleisland/Corca Dhuibhne Electoral Area.

Rose and her big sister, Kate also kept a watchful eye on Daisy. After about 45 minutes of grazing on the new grass Daisy obliged with a significant “dump” and the winning square was identified as square number 310 which was purchased by Damian Moloney from north Kerry who won a luxurious two night stay at The Ballygarry House Estate and Spa, Tralee.
