Woman Dies In Two Car Collision On Tralee-Killarney Road

GARDAI are appealing for witnesses following a two car fatal traffic collision this afternoon (Tuesday).

At approximately 4.15pm Gardaí and Emergency Services were alerted to a two car head on collision the N22 at Dunrine near Lawlor’s Cross.

A female passenger aged in her 80s in one of the cars was pronounced dead at University Hospital Kerry a short time later.

The driver and a second passenger in the same car were removed by Ambulance to University Hospital Kerry. The driver and sole occupant of the second car was also taken to Hospital. Their injuries are understood to be serious.

The local Coroner has been notified and the crash site has been preserved for examination by Garda forensic collision investigators. The road is currently closed to traffic and diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to come forward and also to any road users with camera footage (including dash-cam) from along the N22 at the time of the collision to make it available to investigators.

Man Dies In Road Traffic Collision On Castleisland-Abbeyfeale Road

GARDAI are currently at the scene of a fatal road traffic collision involving a truck and a van that occurred at approximately 9.10am today on the N21 Castleisland to Abbeyfeale Road in Kerry.

The driver of the van, a man in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene and was removed to Tralee University Hospital where a post mortem is expected to take place at a later date.

The driver of the truck, also a man in his 50s, was taken to Tralee University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. No further injuries were reported.

The road is currently closed pending an examination by Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information in relation to this incident, particularly any road users who may have camera footage who were travelling in the area at the time, to contact Gardaí.

Two People Die In Pony And Cart Accident At Gap Of Dunloe

TWO people have died after an accident involving a pony and cart on the Gap of Dunloe.

A man and a woman in their 60s, from Arizona in the United States, were fatally injured when the horse and carriage they were travelling in went off the road.

They were pronounced dead at the scene and their bodies removed to University Hospital Kerry in Tralee. The driver was also taken to Tralee Hospital but has since been released.

The road is currently closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collison Investigators.

It is believed the couple were on holidays with the deceased woman’s daughter and son-in-law and two grandchildren. They were in another pony and trap travelling behind, but they did not witness the accident.

Man Dies In Road Collision On Castleisland/Abbeyfeale Road

A MAN has died in the road collision which occurred earlier today on the Castleisland to Abbeyfeale road.

Gardai in Listowel are investigating the two vehicle fatal road traffic collision that occurred at Ballyduff, Knocknagoshel on the N21 Castleisland to Abbeyfeale Road at approximately 1pm today.

A man in his 60s was seriously injured after his van was involved in a collision with an articulated truck. He was brought to University Hospital Kerry but was later pronounced dead. The driver of the truck was uninjured.

This stretch of road is currently closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic  Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place.

Serious Road Accident On Castleisland/Abbeyfeale Road

GARDAI are asking people to avoid the Castleisland to Abbeyfeale road this afternoon after an accident involving two cars and a lorry.

At least two people are reported to be injured, one of them seriously, in the collision which occurred north of Meenleitrim. Emergency services are attending the scene.

The road will be closed until this evening at lease and gardai are asking people to avoid the area. Diversions are in place.

Woman Dies In Two-Car Collision Near Killarney

 

Gardaí in Killarney are investigating a fatal road traffic collision which occurred this afternoon,  at approximately 2.25pm.

A two car collision occurred on the N72, Killarney to Mallow Road. A female driver in her 70s (only occupant) was fatally injured when her car was in collision with another car.

The male driver (only occupant) of the other car in his 20s was airlifted to University Hospital Limerick with serious injuries.  The road was closed to facilitate a Garda Forensic Collision Investigation but has since reopened.

Sadness At Mikey’s Death In Road Accident

THE man who died in yesterday’s road accident at Ballyroe yesterday has been named.

Michael ‘Mikey’ Martin was killed when he was struck by a car while walking on the road near the Ballyroe Heights Hotel on Tuesday morning at 8.35am.

The driver of the car, a man in his 20s, was not injured in the accident.

Mr Martin, who was 62, was a former road manager for Mark Leen’s ‘Emerald Elvis’ act and had lived in Tralee since 1993, since moving from the US. He has relatives in the Maharees area.

Mark Leen said he was very sad and shocked at the death of his great friend.

“He was a great character and a lovely guy. I’ve lost my best friend,” said Mark. “We travelled all over Ireland, the UK and Holland together touring over the years and he really enjoyed the experiences. He did everything for me. He had great faith too, like myself and we would pray together. He was a great man for knowledge of maritime technology and could tell you anything about ships and boats.”

“My heart goes out to the driver of the car and his family at this time, as they have been affected by this tragedy too,” said Mark.

Teenager Remains In Serious Condition After Motorbike Accident Yesterday

Garda AccidentA 16 YEAR OLD boy is in serious condition in Cork University Hospital following a road accident yesterday in north Kerry.

At approximately 2.30pm on Sunday, the teenager  was seriously injured when his motorcycle crashed on Ferry Road, Tarbert. Gardaí in Listowel are appealing for witnesses following the single vehicle collision.

The boy, believed to be from the Asdee area, was treated at the scene by emergency services personnel and airlifted to Limerick University Hospital. He was later transferred to Cork Universtity Hospital where his condition is described as serious.

The scene was examined by Garda forensic collision investigators and enquiries are ongoing.

Man Who Died In Limerick Crash Was Lixnaw Native

Garda AccidentTHE man who died in a car accident in Limerick on Tuesday was a Lixnaw native.

Roibeárd Thornton was the only occupant of the car involved in the single car collision on the M7 Motorway on the northbound lane near Junction 28, Castletroy at about 10am.

The crash occurred between Junction 28 and 29 on the M7, not far from his home in Annacotty on the outskirts of Limerick city.

His black Renault Laguna was discovered by members of Limerick City Fire and Rescue Service who were first on the scene where Mr Thornton was pronounced dead. There is information as to what caused the crash.

Mr Thornton (35), a married father of one, who worked as a researcher in the University of Limerick, is brother to sitting Fine Gael Kerry County Councillor, Aoife Thornton.

garda_1THE cyclist who died in yesterday’s road accident has been named locally as 35 year old Edward Duggan from Firies.

Mr Duggan, a keen cyclist and member of Killarney Cycling Club, died in a road traffic collision with a car on the N22 at Scart, Farranfore at approximately 11.15am on Sunday morning.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body removed to Kerry General Hospital. The driver and passenger of the car were not injured.

A male cyclist in his 30s was fatally injured when he was involved in a collision with a car.

Cyclist In Road Accident On Thursday Night Has Died

THE woman who suffered serious injuries in a road accident in the Killerisk area of town on Thursday night has died.

Forty-year-old Gayle McConkey from Castlewood Park was cycling near the entrance to Fortfield Estate when she was involved in a collision with a car  at around 7.15pm on Thursday night.

Gardai and emergency services attended the scene and Ms McConkey was taken to Kerry General Hospital where she was in a critical condition.

She passed away over the weekend.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses to the incident to contact them on 066-7102300.

A WOMAN suffered serious injuries in a road accident in the Killerisk area of town last night.

The accident happened when a car and cyclist made impact at the entrance to the Fortfield estate at around 7.15pm on Thursday night.

Gardai and emergency services attended the scene and the female cyclist, said to be around 40 years old, was taken to Kerry General Hospital where she is in a serious condition. Gardai are appealing to the public for witnesses to the incident to contact them on 066-7102300.

Woman Seriously Injured In Collision On Tralee-Killarney Road

A WOMAN was seriously injured and a Garda received minor injuries in an accident on the main Tralee-Killarney road tonight.

Gardai in Killarney are appealing for witnesses to the two vehicle collision that occurred on the N22 Killarney to Tralee road approximately 7 miles from Killarney this evening at 7.45pm.

A woman in her 30’s who was the driver and sole occupant of one of the vehicles was taken to Kerry General Hospital with injuries described as serious.

The driver of the second vehicle, an official Garda van, was taken to Kerry General  Hospital with what are described as minor injuries.

The road remains open but is restricted to one lane at the collision.

As this collision involved a Garda vehicle the collision has been referred to The Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission which is standard procedure in such a collision.

Castlemaine Woman Dies In Road Accident In Wexford

 

garda_1GARDAÍ in Wexford are investigating a fatal road traffic collision in which a Castlemaine woman died in the early hours of Friday morning.

The woman has been named as Linda Griffin, who was in her early 30s, from Lassaboy in Castlemaine.

The collision occurred at Kellystown, Drinagh on the Wexford to Rosslare Road N25 (just on the outskirts of Wexford Town) at approximately 1.30am. A car collided with Ms Griffin.  She was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene.

Her body has been removed to the mortuary at Wexford General Hospital.

The male driver (21 years) the sole occupant was was uninjured in the collision.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the collision.

Man Dies After Road Accident On Tralee-Abbeydorney Road

 

garda_1GARDAÍ have confirmed a man has died in this morning’s road accident on the Tralee-Abbeydorney road.

Gardai in Tralee are investigating the two vehicle fatal road traffic collision that occurred near Abbeydorney Village this morning at approximately 10am.

A male in his 30’s was fatally injured when the motorcycle he was riding was involved in a collision with a lorry. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the lorry was uninjured.

The road has now reopened following an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

This is the second road death in the north Kerry area in the space of six days.

Man Dies In Road Accident Near Kilflynn

garda_1GARDAÍ are investigating a single vehicle fatal road traffic collision which occurred on the N69 Tralee-Listowel Road at Glenballyma, Kilflynn, last night at 9.45pm.

A 24 year old man, the sole occupant in the vehicle, was fatally injured when the car he was driving left the road and collided with a wall. He was pronounced dead at scene. He has been removed to Kerry General Hospital, Tralee where a post mortem is to be arranged.

The road was closed for a period of time but has since reopened. The scene remains preserved.

THE woman who died in the car accident in Manor West yesterday evening has been named locally as 60 year old Geraldine Murphy, of Ashleigh Downes, Tralee.

She died when she was struck by a car at  the retail park at 6.30pm on Tuesday evening.

She was pronounced dead at the scene and her body was been removed to Kerry General Hospital last night. The driver of the car was uninjured.

An 60 year old female pedestrian was fatally injured when she was struck by a car. She was pronounced dead at the scene and her body has been removed to Kerry General Hospital. The driver of the car was uninjured.

Gardaí Appeal For Help After Crash Claims Two Lives

garda_1GARDAI in Killarney are still appealing for the public’s help after two teenagers, from Tralee and Killarney, lost their lives in a road accident near Glenflesk in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Sixteen-year-old Dylan McCarthy from Cois Coille in Tralee and 17-year-old Anthony Battles from Hazlewood Drive, Ballyspillane, Killarney died when their car hit a ditch on the Killarney side of Glenflesk village.

Their bodies were taken to Kerry General Hospital for postmortem examinations.

Despite the accident occurring in the early hours of Saturday morning, the silver Toyota Avensis was only discovered at midday on Saturday by a passing motorist as it was concealed by bushes. It is thought the car left the road, hitting a ditch and a tree at Killaha, two kilometres from Glenflesk church.

Gardai are now trying to piece together the last movements of their car and would like to hear from anyone who saw it late Friday night or early Saturday morning.

Woman Killed In Road Accident Near Annascaul

beige garda symbolA 59-YEAR-OLD woman was killed in a road accident in west Kerry last night.

Gardai in Annascaul are investigating the two vehicle fatal road traffic collision that occured at Ballynane, Annascaul, at approximately 6.40pm on Thursday evening.

A 59 year old woman was fatally injured when the car she was a passenger in collided with another car. She was removed to Kerry General Hospital and died later that evening.

The female driver of the car (58), along with the male driver (39) of the other car were removed to Kerry General Hospital. Their injuries are not life threatening.
