Tesco in Kerry raised €2,200 for charity last Friday.

OVER €2,200 was raised by Tesco stores across Kerry last Friday in support of Temple Street’s Great Irish Bake.

Tesco colleagues and customers baked, bought, ate and sold an abundance of culinary creations to help raise some much-needed dough for the children’s hospital.

All 149 stores across the country took part in the national baking event, raising a total of €102,000 in one day, which will support the cost of constructing a new Neurology and Renal Outpatients Unit to help the 145,000 patients that are treated at the hospital each year.

Denise Fitzgerald, CEO of Temple Street Fundraising said: “Temple Street has some of the best doctors and nurses in the world but without specialist facilities and equipment it is simply not enough. The effort put in by each and every Tesco store and the support from the local communities across the country was amazing and will really make a difference. On behalf of all the patients in Temple Street I would like to say a huge thank you to the customers and Tesco colleagues who helped make the event such a huge success.”

The Great Irish Bake brings Tesco’s fundraising total for Temple Street, its Charity Partner of the Year, to over €600,000 since launching in October 2014.
