PERFORMERS from all over the country and beyond are in Tralee this week as the annual National Circus Festival of Ireland kicked off today.

The festival, which continues until Sunday, will see shows, workshops, street entertainment, parades and more over the next few days.

Organised by Tralee man Con Horgan, there’s a packed schedule of events in venues all over town. Some of the highlights include the Circus Siamsa, a variety show, held on Saturday in Siamsa Tíre theatre at 2pm and 5.30pm.

This year, as every year, an entirely new show has been created by Fanzini Productions  bringing the stars of contemporary circus, street and variety performance to the stage in Siamsa.

The Circus Convention takes place every day with open training and workshops in juggling and prop work. On Friday, there’s ‘Recklessly Yours Tours’ leaving from the Ashe Memorial Hall on the half-hour from 12 noon to 2pm.

There’s a Festival Night-Time Parade through town on Friday and Saturday at 9.30pm while the Festival Club is in the Grand Hotel from 10pm on both nights.

It all ends with a parade through the town at 3pm on Sunday and post-parade show from Síolta.

There’s many more amazing highlights, too many to mention here, so the best advice is to head to the National Circus of Ireland website to see the full programme by clicking here to see the full programme and make some bookings.
