THE annual Tony ‘Todd’ O’Donoghue Memorial Walk, which has raised tens of thousands for charity over the years, will once again return to Blennerville this year, but earlier than usual.

Organised by Tony’s daughter Andrea, the walk is usually held around September, but will take place on Saturday, July 2.

“We usually have it in September but this year there is a change in dates,” said Andrea. “It’s the same event but for a different reason. This year Todd’s walk is turning pink for Mary Gardiner,” she said.

Local Garda Mary Gardiner is battling cancer and is doing 100km in June in aid of Breast Cancer Ireland. Andrea has decided to donate funds raised from the walk to Mary’s fundraising efforts.

Over €5,000 was raised for the Kerry Hospice Foundation through last year’s walk and Andrea is hoping people will give to a great cause again this year.

“Like last year, you can walk during the day and if you would like to, you can make a donation on the day or in Skelper Quanes bar that evening,” said Andrea.

Tom Quane will provide some food in the evening and some entertainment is also planned. To donate this year click here to go to the donation page.
