The 2024 Subbuteo season is blooming into life as the events are starting to come thick and fast in what is a World Cup year.
We had our own club meeting on the 22 January at The Klub at Strand St.,Tralee. For the first time we had 6 players and 3 boards which helped the fixtures flow quicker. It was no surprise as our Italian Mario took the glory in top spot from Dave in second.
One of our members William made the trip up to Donegal for round 1 of the Irish Circuit.The Cork man performed very well as he took 4 points from what was a very tough group.
He bowed out of the Plate comp to eventual winner Oisin Mor of Derry. The top honour went to Mark Farrell from Dublin who saw off Barry Spence in the final.
Other forthcoming events in the Irish Subbuteo World are the World Cup qualifiers on 17 Feb in Dublin followed by round 2 of the circuit in Ballymena on March 23 with round 3 coming to Tralee and Strand St on April 20.
Finally the big one! The World Cup takes place in Tunbridge Wells in England on the last weekend in September.
