Welcoming the announcement James Morris, Chairman of Tralee Rowing Club said ‘Tralee Rowing Club is delighted to have the support of Community Foundation Ireland (CFI) to follow up with the implementation of its Biodiversity Action Plan prepared in 2023, with CFI funding, by consultant ecologist, Dr Noel Mulligan.’

He added that Dr Mulligan identified that Tralee Ship Canal is endowed with some wonderful wildlife and habitats within easy reach and that the Tralee Ship Canal is truly a Gateway to Biodiversity.

Minister for Education, Normal Foley, will formally launch the club’s Biodiversity Awareness Implementation Project at the Tralee Bay Wetland Centre on Saturday, March 23 at 10am.

The launch is timed to coincide with TRC’s World Water Day Guided Walk being delivered by Dr Mulligan (to members of Tralee Tidy Towns).

The TRC’s World Water Day event is appropriately titled ‘A Peek Through the Gateway (a taste of what Tralee Ship Canal – Gateway to Biodiversity has to offer)’.
