TRALEE Rowing Club adult member Paula Moloney won 2nd place in her category at the Irish Indoor Rowing Championship (IIRC) in the UL Sports Arena, Limerick, on Saturday.

She won her medal in the 2k race, W40-49 category and also competed in the 1k race with a great result.

This was the largest entry ever at the IIRC in the history of Tralee Rowing Club, with almost 30 athletes competing in junior, adult and relay categories. Last year the club only had three rowers competing at this national event.

There were hundreds of athletes competing at the Irish Indoor Rowing Championship 2019, including world champions Sanita Puspure and Paul O’Donovan, both setting new Irish records in their categories.

The Irish Indoor Rowing Championship is an indoor rowing event organised by ROWfit and rowed on Concept 2 rowing machines or ergometers. It has several races distances, including 500 meters, 1000 meters (1k) and 2000 meters (2k), but focusing primarily in the 2k races. This year the IIRC had 112 categories.
