We were ahead by four points to two inside the first twelve minutes of this Club Relegation game played in Fitzgerald Stadium on Sunday afternoon (23rd Oct) with our points coming from four different players – Armin Heinrich from play after five minutes followed by two pointed frees by Michael O’Donnell and Seán Quilter and one from play by Shane O’Callaghan. But in the space of the next four minutes Kenmare got three consecutive goals to give them a seven points lead at that stage (3-2 to 0-4).
We rallied well, however during the final quarter of the half, scoring a goal and four points to three for the opposition to leave them three ahead at the break (3-5 to 1-8). Michael O’Donnell got a cracker of a goal in the 18th minute followed by two more Sean Quilter points (one each from play and a free) and a point each from play by Jack O’Shea and Shane O’Callaghan.
We had a very poor third quarter, scoring just one point from a Michael O’Donnell free while Kenmare put over five more points during this period to restore their seven points lead (3-10 to 1-9) after fifty one minutes. But we put up a brave show in the closing minutes of the game scoring a further six points to just one for the opposition. Substitute David Mannix who was introduced in the 48th minute, scored four of those points (three from play) with the other two coming from Michael O’Donnell and Shane O’Callaghan.
It was good to see both Dylan Casey and Joey Nagle making second half appearances after being absent through injury for a good part of the season. With others also due to return season 2023 will be something to look forward to even if we will be playing in the Intermediate Club Championship for the first time.
We will now have at least one more game to play before the season comes to an end and that will be a semi final outing in the Town Championship, details of which have yet to be announced.
Team: Wayne Guthrie, Colin Griffin, Barry Shanahan, Jack O’Shea (0-1), Paul O’Sullivan, Conor Jordan, Ronan Shanahan, Greg Horan, Michael O’Donnell (1-3 – two frees), Armin Heinrich (0-1), Michael O’Gara, Conor Horan, Seán Quilter (0-3 – two frees), Kieran Donaghy, Shane O’Callaghan (0-3).
Subs used: Gearóid Fitzgerald (31m), Dylan Casey (41m), Joey Nagle (41m), David Mannix (48m) (0-4 – one free).
And well done to Kerins O’Rahillys on winning this season’s Club Championship – their third title in the competition – with their other two wins coming in 2009 and 2010. One point just separated themselves and Templenoe at the end (0-15 to 0-14). The now look forward to a Munster semi final clash against a Clare or Waterford Club on the 27th November.

U14 GIRLS
North Kerry u14 Shield Final
John Mitchels 5-6
Currow 3-6
A terrific strong scoring first half from John Mitchels u14 girls in their final game of the season saw the team bring home the North Kerry u14 Division 4 Shield, with a strong victory over Currow in Ballyseedy on Thursday night.
It was a well-deserved victory and after having tasted defeat in their previous 2 finals of the season, it was deserved for the amount of work that the girls put in during the season.
The early stages of the game saw Mitchels dominate and they hit the crossbar three times in quick succession before Currow opened the scoring with a point. However, with Kerri Falvey making strong runs through the Currow defence and Lisa O’Shea working hard close to the square, goals from Lisa and Kerri (2) put Mitchels in control.
Currow came back into the game with a fortunate goal, but Mitchels kept popping scores and a late goal from Lisa O’Shea left it 4-4 to 1-3 at the break.
Scoring slowed down in the second half but Currow never gave up and kept creeping back into the game. However, performances from the likes of Laoise O’Sullivan, Nicole Hennig and Nadya Rivas McHugh kept the team ticking over and when substitute Megan Noonan slipped a pass inside to Lisa O’Shea for her third goal, it was too much for Currow to overcome.
A great end to a great season and captain Ellie O’Rahilly picked up the trophy to crown a great night. Huge credit to the team for their work over the season where the atmosphere among the girls has been consistently strong.
Team:
Grace O’Regan, Gia Sharma, Sadhbh Corkery, Eabha Mullen, Laoise O’Sullivan, Ava Sharma, Nicole Hennig, Ellie Rahilly, Nadya Rivas McHugh, Ellie Feehan Reidy, Bridget Stewart, Ciara Harris, Kerri Falvey, Lisa O’Shea, Ella McCannon.

UNDER 15 BOYS
On Sunday we played our final game of the u15 season which saw us at home to a strong Ballymac team.
Trailing by only 3pts at half time the lads put in a maximum effort for the second half, only for the Ballymac goal keeper who pulled off three top drawer saves to deny us 3 certain goal chances.
This would have put us in a great position, but we ended up losing by a few points in the finish.
I’d like to thank all the under 15 players and mentors for their efforts during the season much appreciated we will be in touch about the strength and conditioning training for the winter months cheers for yere efforts during the year.
UNDER 17 BOYS
The u17 boys are training again Thursday night 6pm to 7pm.
We were due to play Na Gaeil in the final.
New fixture to follow shortly.
SENIOR LADIES
Friday Oct 21st 2022 will go down as a memorable night in the annals of our Senior Ladies progress in ladies’ football as we played Dingle in the North Kerry Ladies Div 3 league Cup final.
This was not a game for the faint hearted as it ebbed and flowed for the 60 minutes, played under lights in Ballyseede in what were near storm conditions.
Mitchels played against the wind and rain in the first half and got off to a great start after winning the throw in with Simi and Sarah leading to some fine interchange passing from Diana , Ava and Linda leaving Rachel in to finish to the net for a fine goal, Dingle though weren’t here to make up numbers responded with 3 lovely points to level the game.
A well worked movement from Kayleigh through Tanya Anna , Ashleigh and Linda lead to a great pass to Shauna who finished to the net with style leaving us 1 goal up. Once again Dingle who were tigerish in attack clocked up 2 more points before a high dangerous ball landed in the net for a Dingle Goal, mitchels however responded with a ball from Julie Lauren and Emilia left Shauna in for another goal,
fearless defending from Shannon and Lauren kept Dingle out and further points from Sarah , Linda and Diana left the half time score Mitchels 3-3 Dingle 1-7 all to play for
Conditions got worse with the rain now pelting down making ball handling very difficult as Dingle came out all guns blazing and tacked on a further 2 points to level the game mid way through the second half, mitchels now pushed forward in search of the lead and a free from Rachel cut it to a 1 point game,
Dingle though we’re never to to give up and a sweeping move saw them score a second goal to go 2 points up with the clock ticking, mitchels pressed forward and a foul on Sandra lead to a pointed free from Rachel and a surging run from Anna who pointed to level the game with 4 mins remaining ,,, heart stopping moments ,,, mitchels pressed up on the kick out and won a free about 30 mtrs out which Rachel converted to put us a point up to the loud cheers of our loyal supporters who were saturated at this point,,, try as they may Dingle were kept on their own half and the final whistle blew for a magnificent win to the delight of Mitchels players, management and supporters,
Final score mitchels 3-6 Dingle 2-8,,, after the match the trophy was presented to winning Captain Sarah Kilgallen who thanked Dingle for a fantastic game and mitchels players and management and supporters ,,, this was really a great team performance everyone dug deep to win the final.Congrats ladies on a great win.

Last Monday morning was a proud morning for the club as Minister for Education Norma Foley officially opened the brand new wing of Gaelscoil Mhic Easmainn (GSME) as well as a new astroturf facility and ball wall, the first and only ball wall in the town of Tralee.
Tralee Parnells, along with Na Gaeil, jointly supported the Sports Capital Grant application for the new astroturf and ball wall facility in early 2021.
The application was successful and with the completion of the facility, the club will have full access to the ball wall outside of school hours.
This will be a great addition the club and provide an opportunity for all players to practice their skills year-round. Final details are being worked out with GSME, but it is hoped that the wall will be available to use at weekends within a few months.
Plans are being worked out to install lighting on site so the wall can be used during the winter months. At the official opening, pupils of GSME and Tralee Parnells Academy members Danny Brick, Michael Broughton, Adam Quill and Conor Reidy had the honour of being the first players to use the new ball wall and show off their skills to the Minister.
Well done boys and hopefully you are the first of many Parnells girls and boys that get to use this fantastic facility.

U9’s and U11’s
Our Parish league concluded on Friday evening. We were blessed with good conditions for the final games of our Parish league and the Cup and Shield Finals. It was a huge event and well supported and our young stars served up the football to match.
West took on Windmill for a place in the final in a good contest. The West got a number of very good scores to secure the result and their place in the Cup final. In the other game Dingle Way, who had already qualified for the final, took on Bridge. The Bridge team welcomed the return of Rian Flynn, but the Dingle Way team won out.
James O’Riordan and Cian O’Regan was superb in front of goal and in midfield Hugh and Tommy Costello gave Windmill the edge they needed to win out the game.
In the Shield Final Bridge took on Windmill and put on a great display of football for the spectators. It was a very close contest and probably the best game of the day, with a narrow victory for the Bridge to clinch the shield trophy.
Congratulations to Bridge, our Parish Shield winners for 2021. There were good displays all round for both teams with standout displays by Paddy Flynn, Tommy Flynn, Darragh Flahive, Oscar Curran, Darragh Murphy, Dylan Murphy, Paddy Costello, and our Man of the matchRian Flynn. A special mention to winning captain Fionn Sharp who capped off a great season with St Pats.
In the Cup final, West and Dingle Way, returned to battle and it was a fierce contest as expected. The West put up a great fight but found it difficult to get through a strong midfield and resolute defence commanded by Thomas Higgins.
Dingle Way grew stronger as the game went on and were deserved winners. Tommy and Hugh Costello showed fantastic athleticism, determination, shooting and also linked well together and with Cian O’Regan and James O’Riordan to kick the key scores to lead Windmill to victory. Cillian Enright, Darragh Sheehan, Thomas Colivet and Jace Flynn stood out for the runners up while AJ Turner put in a standout performance and was our man of the match.
Congratulations to Dingle Way, and joint captains Tommy and Cian, our Parish Cup winners for 2022.
We had a presentation ceremony for all our awards after the games, conducted by Juvenile Chairman Michael Moriarty and John Colivet from the u11 coaching team.
Our Player of the tournament award went to Jace Flynn who consistently showed great leadership and determination, a deserving winner. Our top Scorer of the tournament award went to Tommy Costello with scored a phenomenal 6-21 over the four games. Tommy also deserves special mention for a very impressive acceptance speech as joint captain of the winning cup team.
Thank you to everyone who helped make the day possible, not least Michael Moriarty, Joe Costello, Fiona Costello, Seamus Murphy, and Marie Fitzgibbon for organising the Parish League and prizes. It was superbly organised and a great occasion that brought the best out of our players. Thanks also to all our u9 and u11 coaches who have given their time over the year to help develop our young St Pats stars. We are taking a well-earned break now and will return early in 2023. We are looking forward to next season already.
U12 Girls
Well done to everyone on a great training session on Wednesday evening last. The girls had a lot of fun and there was a great turn out. Last Sunday our senior side prevailed in a tight tussle with Templenoe to be crowned Senior Club Champions for 2022.
In the end, it all came down to one kick of a ball. Trailing by the minimum, five minutes into injury-time, Killian Spillane stood over a 35 metre free for Templenoe.
With nine points already on the board in a fine individual display, the inter-county star had certainly delivered the goods. But this was serious pressure.
Lofting the ball high in the trajectory of the posts at the Lewis Road end of Fitzgerald Stadium, time appeared to stand still for a few seconds. The shot looked on target, as Kerins O’Rahillys’ David Moran rose high to try and gather.
Did he get a touch? Potentially yes. The ball careered onto the post, close to the goal-line, and was eventually cleared.
Spillane and his Templenoe colleagues left crest-fallen after failing to take the game to extra-time.
Man-of-the-match Moran, and his O’Rahillys’ team-mates, ecstatic after crawling over the line, to bring a piece of silverware, and a much-coveted place in the provincial campaign, home to Strand Road. What an action-packed finale to a very decent encounter.
When all is said and done, William Harmon’s charges just about deserved to edge it. Moran held sway for long spells at midfield, their attack moved with great penetration and invention in the first half, and Jack Savage’s free-taking was absolutely pivotal on the resumption. Templenoe gave as good as they got, but for the most part, they were chasing from behind.
The first half was a tale of Kerins O’Rahillys looking the more cohesive attacking unit, benefiting from the dominance of Moran around the centre of the field. On the other hand, through grit and perseverance, Templenoe managed to stay hot on their heels, Killian Spillane’s accuracy proving to be hugely important.
It was the Strand Road men who got off to the proverbial flyer, however, with Gavin O’Brien winning, and then scoring from, the throw-in, and corner-forward Conor Hayes adding another point within the opening minute.
A fantastic long-range effort from Templenoe’s Josh Crowley Holland got them off the mark, but the Tralee side continued to ooze confidence up front.
By the seventh minute, the gap was out to four points, 0-5 to 0-1, Tom Hoare and Tommy Walsh notching nice scores from play but, not for the first time in the half, Templenoe, commendably, regathered their composure, and three points on-the-trot, including a beauty from corner-back Brian Crowley, had them back in touch by the end of the first quarter.
Once more, Kerins O’Rahillys put the foot on the accelerator, with Moran on top in his personal duel against fellow Kerry star, Adrian Spillane.
Two points from Barry John Keane, and another from full-forward Walsh, moved Strand Road four clear again, 0-8 to 0-4, entering the last ten minutes of the half. Yet again, Templenoe were not flustered.
Three unanswered minors from star forward Spillane (one from play) narrowed the deficit again, and even though a Jack Savage free, and a magnificent point from play by Cormac Coffey, had O’Rahillys three ahead, 0-10 to 0-7, Templenoe fought back in style, and influential Spillane with two more white flags before the half-time whistle.
After such a free-scoring opening half (19 scores registered, and only four wides), both outfits notably focused on attempting to shut up shop a bit better at the back on the resumption.
With much more pressure being put on the respective shooters on either side, the entertainment levels dropped a degree or two, though the closeness of the exchanges kept the attendance on their toes.
It was Templenoe’s turn to get out of the blocks quicker on this occasion, Killian Spillane and Seán Sheehan with nice points from play to put them into the ascendancy for the very first time, but the hard-working Keane soon slotted over his third from play to bring the sides to parity, and it was still level pegging heading into the final quarter, 0-12 apiece.
Now was the time for Jack Savage, who returned home from Dubai for the game with team-mate Coffey, to take centre stage. A lively playmaker in the O’Rahillys’ forward unit all afternoon, the number eleven showcased his outstanding repertoire of dead-ball kicking, with three pointed frees on the spin, to push his side three clear again by the 52nd minute, 0-15 to 0-12.
The Strand Road side appeared to have the bit between their teeth now, but with time running out, as they had showed from the opening whistle, Templenoe were never going to throw in the towel.
Stephen O’Sullivan was narrowly wide with a fisted effort at goal, Spillane tapped over another free, and O’Sullivan blazed over from close range in the first minute of injury-time.
O’Rahillys’ substitute Ben Hanafin had a chance to kill the game off when his close-range strike at goal was deflected to safety, Conor Hayes punched wide when another opportunity presented itself, and the Tralee men were left to live on their nerves – right up to that last-gasp Killian Spillane nail-biting moment.
When the final whistle blew players, management and supporters were in raptures with the victory, a victory that this group of players hugely deserve after having such poor luck in recent times.
We now progress to represent Kerry in the Munster Club Championship .
KERINS O’RAHILLYS: Shane Foley; Darragh McElligott, Ross O’Callaghan, Cormac Coffey 0-1; Con Barrett, Karl Mullins, Padraig Neenan; David Moran, Tom Hoare 0-1; Cian Sayers, Jack Savage 0-6(fs), Gavin O’Brien 0-1; Barry John Keane 0-3, Tommy Walsh 0-2, Conor Hayes 0-1 Subs: Ben Hanafin for Sayers (38), Sean Walsh for Barrett (59)

Under 15 Boys
Ballymac v John Mitchels – Semi Final – Tralee/St Brendan’s Board District Championship
Our Under-15 team played in the semi-final of the Tralee/St Brendan’s Board District Championship versus John Mitchels, in Mitchels on Sunday morning.
The opening 10 minutes were competitive with both sides exchanging scores but as the half progressed, our boys got more into their grove on a nice autumn Sunday morning ideal for football with little breeze. The Half time score was 1.14 to 0-03 in favour of Ballymac. All of our six forwards scored in the half with 9 players in total getting on the scoresheet in the opening half.
In the second half, Ballymac continued to play some nice football with some great scores but notable mention for Cian Harris who pulled off a number of outstanding saves in goals. Final score in John Mitchels GAA, Ballymac 1-26 John Mitchels 0-6.
Ballymac now proceed to the final of the competition with date/time/venue tbc in the coming days.
Keep an eye on social media for updates.

Divisional County Championship U15’s
The St. Kieran’s U15 side was first into action on Saturday afternoon at 4.30pm in Cordal, where they faced the heavily fancied Tralee District. Our ladies put in a fantastic performance and emerged victorious on a score line of 5-4 to 1-9. Next up is a very strong Mid Kerry, in the Semi Final away.
U17’s
A strong St. Kieran’s U17 side (with three Division 1 clubs) travelled all the way to Ballydavid/Gallarus to take on West Kerry. While it was even stevens for the first 10-15 minutes after that St. Kieran’s started to pull away with some excellent point taking and numerous goal chances, finishing 3-27 to 0-9 winners. Next up is North Kerry away in the Semi Final.
U13’s
Last into action this weekend was the St. Kieran’s U13 Ladies who played one of the competition favourites in North Kerry at Knocknagoshel. A first half underperformance cost us and the huge second half was not enough for us to turn it around, resulting in a 4-12 to 1-11 loss. This leaves us at home in the Shield Semi Final v losers of South Kerry v East Kerry.

CREDIT unions have topped the league table for the best customer experience in Ireland at the official CXi awards announced last week. This is a record-breaking eighth year in a row that credit unions have topped the CXi poll.
Speaking about the achievement, Pa Laide CEO of Cara Credit Union said, “Once again, we see Irish credit unions top the poll for best customer experience in this year’s CXi report.
“This is a huge endorsement of the excellent customer experience we offer our members on a daily basis through face to face engagement in our offices, and through our online and digital offerings.”

“In a year which has seen Ulster Bank and KBC withdraw from the Irish market, more and more consumers are realising the importance of excellent service from a financial provider with a social ethos. We put our members’ needs at the heart of everything we do, and we will always be there for them. It’s no coincidence that we’ve seen a significant increase in the number of consumers who have switched their bank accounts to our credit union since the beginning of the year. The results from the CXi report speak for themselves and it is a testament to the dedication and the hard work of staff and volunteer directors in Cara Credit Union and in every credit union in Ireland,” said Mr Laide.
The Customer Experience Insight (CXi) Report is published annually by the CX Company based on a survey carried out on their behalf by Amárach Research. Over 28,000 experiences were evaluated using the CX Framework, including value, channel usage, how important employees are to the customer experience, and net promoter score (NPS) which measures the loyalty of customers to a company.
Speaking at the CXi report launch, Michael Killeen, Chairman of the CX Company said, ‘’Irish Credit Unions topped the CXi league table for a record eight year in a row, which is unheard of around the world. Credit unions are fully committed to brilliant and consistent CX Excellence. They treat their members like a member of their own family and, in response to members’ evolving needs, are continuing to develop new products and services including mortgages, current accounts and SME loans, as they drive CX Excellence across the whole credit union sector.”
