NUMEROUS cultural activities will take place in Tralee as part of the national ‘Culture Night’ event on Friday,  September 18.

A wide range of  free arts events will be made available to the public and will take place over the course of the night.

Ten different venues will host events with it all kicking off at 6pm and continuing on until after midnight.

The hub for the night will be Kerry County Museam, which will host five different events over the course of the Arts celebration.

One of the highlights will be the outdoor cinema in Pearse Park, which will screening two films, weather permitting of course, at 7 and 9pm.

TRALEE WOMEN’S RESOURCE CENTRE ARTS EVENING        6-8 PM
Come and immerse yourself in our fun activity for Culture Night. Experience drama, art and games, with a new activity every half hour including a poetry and short story readings. A cultural event with a difference!

TRALEE INTERNATIONAL RESOURCE CENTRE ART EXHIBITION 6-8 PM
An exhibiton of work by centre members. This exhibition features amazing and colourful paintings created under the guidance of Kerry artist Amelie Gagne.

OPEN MIC SESSION FOR POETRY & PROSE WITH MÁIRE HOLMES  7 – 9 PM
Join Writer Máire Holmes who will host an open mic session of prose and poetry in Kerry Library Headquarters on Culture Night. All welcome!

AFRICAN DRUMMING – 6-9 PM
The Tralee International Resource Centre’s African Drumming Group will share their skills and perform for the public throughout the evening.

A CELEBRATION OF FOLK AT SIAMSA TIRE – 6-9 PM
As part of Culture Night 2015, Siamsa Tíre will be celebrating our native folk culture in music, song and dance with workshops, performances and special events.  Bígí Linn!

AFTER DARK AT THE MUSEUM 6 PM – 10 PM
Stroll down a medieval street dressed up in costume, dig up a skeleton, marvel at beautiful photographs from Kerry and explore 8,000 years of history in the Museum Gallery.

TRADITIONAL MUSIC WITH SLIABH MISH COMHALTAS 6 PM – 9.30 PM
Kicking off Culture Night at Kerry County Museum at 6pm, we are delighted to announce that Sliabh Mish Comhaltas are back again by popular demand. Everybody is welcome to experience traditional music, dance and story telling at its finest.

CIAR QUILTING EXHIBITION 6 PM – 9.30 PM
This is your chance to attend a special late opening of a temporary exhibition by the Cíar Quilters. On display are all types of quilts from traditional to contemporary. Members of the Cíar Quilters will be at hand throughout the evening to discuss their work with you and tell you some tricks of the trade.

BEHIND THE SCENES TOUR 6 PM – 10 PM
Our ‘Behind the Scenes’ tours of the Museum’s stored collections are back by popular demand. This is your chance to join our curator and collections officer to explore objects from our forthcoming Special Exhibition ‘Casement in Kerry; A Revolutionary Journey’.

PRINT YOUR OWN CULTURE NIGHT TOTE BAG  6 PM – 8.30 PM
Join Museum volunteer Edel Wilson and make your own Culture Night tote bag complete with unique designs. Edel is a local printer and designer who will show families how much fun it is to print your own customized bag.

Kerry County Council and Kerry Comhaltas present an Open Air Ceilí in Tralee Town Square. Music by Neily O’Connor.  An evening of set dancing for enthusiasts.

THURSDAY NIGHT WRITERS OPEN MIC – 8 PM
Poetry and Prose Readings by featured readers and members of Thursday Night Writers, Tralee.  Including published authors and competition winners. Open mic sessions for members of the public to share their work.
