PEIL FAOI 12: On Sunday last we entertained Laune Rangers in damp conditions agus bhí an-pheil ann!

FAOI 14: (i) Training for all Under 14s will take place on Monday in Connolly Park from 5.30pm to 6.45pm.

(ii) Féile Skills Star Competition: Daniel O Rourke was our representative in the county skills competition in Blennervillle last Thursday night and, though he wasn’t the overall winner, he was highly praised for his skills…on the left and right sides…by the organisers. Well done, Dan!

(iii) Féile Funding: We look forward to visiting our Dunlavin (Dún Luáin) hosts!

(a) Our fundraising committee has been working round the clock to help with the costs and, so, we’ll be bag packing on Friday in Tesco, Manor West. This is a top priority with both parents and squad members being called into action…after school has finished, boys !! Buíochas mór le muintir Tesco. The club gear has been ordered…skinny tracksuits, anyone?

(b) All sold sponsorship cards to be returned, please. Thanks, again, to those making the big effort!

(c) And mórbhuíochas mór to Barry’s Bakery and Terry Healy Butchers, our major sponsors. (iv) ‘Well done’ to our Under 14A boys who defeated Na Gaeil, our near neighbours, for the second time in a week, in ‘Connolly’. We had a 0-6 victory in a county league encounter in Cillín and that gave us home advantage for our second encounter in the semi-final on Wednesday evening. Our boys give their best performance so far in a 6-19 to 5-2 win.

We led from start to finish in what was a master class in teamwork. Even without our out-of-actionstars, Leon Shalemba and Dara Barry-Walsh, the Páirc na Darach boys were never allowed settle and came under constant pressure, though they never gave up.

Even though the match was going our way by halftime, the Gaeil ruffled our net twice in 3 minutes at the start of the second half to close the gap but 10 second-half points and goals by Conor Myers and Eoghan Carroll had us over the line at the final whistle.

All twenty players played their part in the win and it was great to see Dara Barry-Walsh coming on for the last 15 minutes; he even blocked down his man three times when the boys in green came looking for goals.

Seán Quilter split the posts from a 45′ and Pádraic Linnane won the ball every time it came near him. The inside line of Conor Myers and Liam Nolan gave their markers a torrid time.

Daniel O’Rourke covered every inch of grass on the pitch and was always looking for opportunities to link the play. Joe Bastible showed every skill in the game and, for good measure, found the top corner of the net with a pile driver.

When called into action, the six defenders were out in front every time and drove forward when the opportunity arose. Scór deiridh:- AdeS: 6-19; Na Gaeil: 5-2. Next game: v Rathmore at Killarney Legion Club on Tuesday at 7.30pm in the county league final. A much tougher test awaits!

(v) (a) Mórbhriseadh croí d’fhoireann B! Ochón! Ochán! The Bs had a heartbreaking defeat v Laune Rangers in Connolly Park when the Launesiders netted twice in the last 5 minutes to win. We had led brilliantly from the start…but it wasn’t to be! Main men on the night were Jordan Kissane (0-4) and John Hanafin-Walsh. John scored his first and second scores (ever!) with two fine points. Final tally:- AdeS:1-10; Rangers: 4-6.

(b) Last Thursday we travelled to Farranfore to play our final group game against Firies with a county final at stake for the winners. We proved too strong on the night as Jordan Barry gave a master class i lár na páirce, scoring 1-6 (one a 45′). Shane Bastible was our ‘go to’ man ar imeall na cearnóige and Charlie Curran added 1-4 (his last point from an almost impossible angle!).

It was also great to see the ever-improving Ryan Foley bursting upfield and, as always, Conor Horan was like a young Tomás Ó Sé…leaving the half back line in his wake. Christopher Nolan pointed beautifully on his debut while Daniel Breen and Ciarán Kelliher tackled tirelessly. Our reward? Yes, another chance to play the boys from Killorglin in the county final next Saturday! 3rd time lucky! Time and venue to be confirmed and support would be worth a point or two! Scór deiridh:- AdeS: 4-16; Firies: 1-6.

CÓINEARTÚ / CÉAD CHOMAOINEACH: Congratulations to all our members who have received or will receive their Confirmation or First Holy Communion. Dia libh!

IOMÁNAITHE CHIARRAÍ: ‘Well done’ to the Kerry hurlers v An Mhí.

GAELTACHT: Good wishes to all our club players who’ve been offered GAA Gaeltacht scholarships. Beidh airgead na scoláireachtaí ag teacht ó Bhord Thrá Lí, ó Bhord an Chontae agus ó Chomhairle na Mumhan. Gabhann tuismitheoirí na bpáistí a mbuíochas le CLG.

Credit to GAA authorities for this continuous and worthwhile sponsorship. It undoubtedly helps some of our youngsters to get the wonderful experience of spending a few weeks listening to and speaking our native language in Corca Dhuibhne! Beatha teanga í a labhairt!

It’s to be noted that our club’s participation in Scór…daoine fásta, déagóirí agus páistí…was very necessary for the obtaining of the scoláireachtaí agus, mar sin, gabhaimid buíochas leis na daoine a bhí páirteach i Scór 2015.
ÁR SINSIR: Comhghairdeachas lenár bpeileadóirí sinsearacha a bhuaigh Comórtas na Sraithe.
