Deputy Brendan Griffin.

KERRY Fine Gael TD Brendan Griffin will not retain his Minister of State for Tourism and Sport post in the new Government.

Deputy Griffin was first elected to the Dáil in 2011 and held the Minister of State for Tourism and Sport since June 2017. No official statement has yet been released on the junior ministry appointments in the Government.

In a post on his facebook page this afternoon, Deputy Griffin said: “It has been a great honour to serve as Minister of State for Tourism and Sport. I always did my best for everyone & enjoyed working with so many great people. I also made every day count to help bring about many improvements for Kerry and Ireland. I wish my successor the very best in the difficult times ahead for both sectors & for our country as a whole. Thank you all and I look forward to continuing to serve proudly in Dáil Éireann as a TD for Kerry.”
