THE dulcet tones of a local choir helped raise funds for a great cause just before Christmas.

Members of the Curraheen Choir assembled for their annual Christmas carol service in aid of St Vincent De Paul at O’Shea’s Gala in Blennerville on Friday, December 16.

They were there for just one hour and in that time generous customers at the petrol station/shop donated €300. Paddy Kevane, Area President of SVP, was on hand to accept the cheque from Mary O’Shea of O’Shea’s Gala and choir members on Thursday.

“We’ve done this for a quite a few years now and we’re very grateful to the local community who contributed so much in a short space of time,” said Mary O’Shea.

“The contribution is very much appreciated,” said Paddy.  “This will go towards helping families during January which is a very busy time of year for us. It also raised awareness of SVP and any help we can get is appreciated.” People can donate at St Vincent De Paul shops in Tralee and their warehouse in Monavalley.
