TRALEE was one of seven towns and villages across Kerry that raised over €15,000 for St Vincent de Paul, as part of ‘The Big Blue Box Challenge’ initiative ran by Bank of Ireland in June.

In Kerry €7,534.90 was raised by the initiative, Bank of Ireland then matched every euro to bring the total figure to €15,087.80.

The ‘Big Blue Box Challenge’ involved 35 communities along the Wild Atlantic Way including Kenmare, Tralee, Cahersiveen, Killorglin, Dingle, Listowel and Ballybunion.

“The Big Blue Box challenge was a great success in Kerry and it’s fantastic to be able to donate over €15,000 to the local St Vincent De Paul, who do fantastic work across the county” said Frank Shaw from Bank of Ireland, Tralee.

Staff and volunteers cycled the Wild Atlantic Way route and stopped at various locations along the way where fundraising events were held in each town.

“We are proud here to have been part of this fantastic initiative and it was great to see so many of our local communities involved. Bank of Ireland staff, as well as members of the local community, participated in this fantastic fundraising event, and Bank of Ireland are delighted to match the amount of money raised,” said Frank Shaw.

All funds raised in the Tralee area will be fully used to support the work being being done by the SVP, and will be put towards helping the vulnerable members of the community with basics such as food, fuel and education costs.
