Seniors:   Na Gaeil played An Ghaeltacht in Round 4 of the Division 1 County League on Sunday last with a much depleted side.

Missing were our Leaving Cert students, injured full back Kieran, and Andrew missed twenty nine minutes of the second half through injury.  A red card early in the second half did not help matters either.

We played with the aid of a strong breeze in the first half but found it difficult to score against a strong well marshalled Gaeltacht defence limiting us to just four points to their own eight. Our backs played very well against a very mobile forward unit and our disciplined tackling forced An Ghaeltacht to kick eleven wides in the first half.

The second half started very well for us, winning the throw-in and a perfect pass from Dara Reen to Andrew Barry left Andrew off on a great solo run which he finished to the net. Unfortunately he injured himself and had to leave the field.

We got a point shortly afterwards to leave the game all square with twenty minutes to go. Gaeltacht got nine unanswered points until we got a goal with the last move of the game, from Niall O’Mahony, to leave the final score 0 – 17 to 2 – 05. Our scores came from Andrew Barry 1 – 00, Dara Devine 0 – 03, Dara Reen 0 – 01, Mike Griffin 0 – 01, Niall O’Mahony 1 – 00. We play Legion, away, on w/e 9th June in round five.
