Well Done    Congratulations and well done to our two Kerry Senior stars, Jack Barry and Diarmuid O’Connor on helping Kerry to win their 21st National League title in Austin Stack Park on Saturday by virtue of their win over Donegal in the final game of the competition.

Due to the Coronavirus Pandemic the National League Final is not going ahead this year and the top team is deemed the winner.

It’s a first National League medal for Diarmuid while it’s a second for Jack who won his first back in 2017. We wish them and the Kerry team the best of luck as they take on Cork in the Munster Championship in Páirc Uí Chaoimh in two weeks time.

Congrats      Congratulations also to Na Gaeil minor star Oisín Maunsell who was chosen to captain the Kerry Minor team for the 2020 championship on Tuesday last October 20th.

This has come as no surprise as his leadership qualities really came to the fore in the Minor County Final earlier in the summer when he starred for St. Brendan’s against East Kerry.

Even though he ended up on the losing side such was his performance that he picked up the Man of the Match award. It is a huge honor for Oisín, his family and the Na Gaeil club to be nominated as captain of the Kerry Minor team.

Unfortunately on Wednesday October 21st following clarification from the Department of Sport, the GAA confirmed that the Electric Ireland Minor Football Championship will be paused until further notice due to the Covid -19 Pandemic.

This is hugely disappointing for Oisín, the Kerry minor panel and management team but the fact that this competition has been suspended and not cancelled gives hope that these games will be played at a date in the future when it is deemed safe to do.

Virtual Race Night    Na Gaeil is organizing an all-sponsored Virtual Race Night for Friday 11th December at 8.30pm. Because of Covid 19 restrictions, attendance at the Clubhouse is curtailed and, accordingly, we are proceeding virtually with our annual race night.

Whilst obeying Government and GAA guidelines since the re-commencement of activities in June, all of our teams, from U-6‘s to Senior Men and Ladies, have been training and playing a full season of games at all levels. Costs and expenses associated with a multitude of activities have placed a huge strain on the Club finances.

Our income has been hugely impacted as we have been obliged to indefinitely cancel our weekly Lotto and Bingo since the ongoing restrictions were first imposed in March.

We are now appealing to our members, supporters and the wider public to support Na Gaeil CLG at this difficult time by contributing to our Race Night as very many of you have done in the past. Buying a horse for €40 will ensure the continued growth and development of the club. You can do this by contacting any club officer or member of the Race committee.

You can buy a horse online using the link:https://www.klubfunder.com/Clubs/Na%20Gaeil%20CLG/EventRegistration

Sympathy   Na Gaeil GAA Club offers their sincere sympathy to the Twomey family, Killarney on the sudden and tragic death of Killarney Legion footballer Derek Twomey last week.  May he rest in peace.

Clubhouse The clubhouse is closed for all outside activities and the gym will also be closed until there is further clarification from GAA Headquarters as to when they can re-open. This means that our Monday night bingo, Tuesday night lotto and Wednesday night card playing are suspended until then as well as all other activities that normally took place there on a weekly basis.

Clothes Collection There is now a Clothes Collection Bin situated in Na Gaeil car park for use by all members of the public.
