NA GAEIL SENIOR: In the Brendan’s championship final, Na Gaeil faced St Pats in Blennerville. On a glorious day for football, it was St pats who registered the first score in the opening two minutes.

Na Gaeil as they settled enjoyed the best of chances in the opening half with Shane Carey and Jamie Lowham coming close to goaling only to be denied by some fine save by the the home sides goal keeper.

Scores from Kieran O’Donovan and Shane Carey  along with two from Ian McCarthy and Dara Carmody ensured Na Gaeil held a slender lead at half time. St Pats 01-03: Na Gaeil 00-07.Na Gaeil extended their lead in the second half courtesy of scores from Kieran O’Donovan, jack Barry, Dylan Seymour and Shane Carey a lead which could have been extended further after Jamie Lowham came close when he struck hard and low, his attempt however narrowly going wide.

St Pats purple patch mid-way through the second half, scoring 02-01 without reply swung the momentum into the home sides favour, tho Na Gaeil came close, when with a point between the sides a goal effort couldn’t get pass a wall of St Pats defenders. A late free for St Pats ensured victory, ending any chance of Na Gaeil retaining the Brendan’s  Championship. St Pats 03-06: Na Gaeil 00-13.Tim Culloty, Ross Culloty, Podge O’Sullivan, Paul Daly, Emmett Curran, Dara Sheehy, Stephan Kumar (01), Dan O’Connor, Dylan Seymour(01), Ian McCarthy(02), Kieran O’Donovan(02), Dara Carmody(03), Jamie Lowham(01), Shane Carey(01), Cian Quirke, Seamie O’Neill

NA GAEIL U14: Our under 14 boys were due to play Churchill in the St. Brendans championship final on Saturday last in what would have been the final game of the season for this talented bunch of young men.

Churchill could not field a team and had to concede the game. This team have played over 34 games this year across seven competitions and have competed in semi finals or finals in all these competitions.

Add in approx 55 training sessions and this group have had a busy year. As a lot of lads move up to the under 16 panel, keep working on your game lads and keep listening to your coaches. Thanks  to the players and parents and hope to be as busy again next year. Mark, John, James, Tim and Thomas.

NA GAEIL U13:On a sunny Sunday in Caherselee, Na Gaeil and Austin Stacks under 13’s met for the Town Board championship final after of a long season for both teams. Na Gaeil team lined out under strength with Osin and Thomas missing but always have a good squad of players available all year.

Chances to clear ball out of our defence only for the ball to end up in the net on two occasions in the first half and a few missed opportunities in the forwards was the difference between the teams at the end and a little more composure in this sector would have seen the result reversed, final score Na Gaeil 1-12 Stacks 3-11.

This team have now played in both div1 town finals, Rose Cup final and Lee Strand div 1 semi final and have done the club, parents and Tralee Town proud all year and should help their development as they move up to the under 14 panel next year.

Winter training will start shortly so take a few weeks off now for a deserved break. Panel: Cian Devine, Tadgh Reen, Scott Ryan, Enda O Connor, Devon Burns, Liam og Kingston, Jack Sheehan, Jack Bourke, Jimmy O Sullivan, Mathew Burke, Tadgh Horgan, Denis Moriarty, Tom Walsh, Peter Walsh, Graham Sheehy, Jamie Fitzgerald, Shane Daly

NA GAEIL U14 LADIES: On 1st Nov the girls togged out to play in the N. Kerry Shield Final against Ballyduff.

With blue skies and sunshine it felt more like the middle of Summer. After a long season the girls are getting tired but there is nothing like a final to get lift the spirits!

Clodagh O’Connor and Laoise Delahunty shared the captaincy and led by example with Clodagh covering every blade of grass on the pitch and Laoise showing her goal poaching skills by punching a ball into the Ballyduff net.

Playing with the advantage of the breeze in the first half we began to dominate possession  in mid-field with Grainne Early and Mary O’Connell working well together. Caragh O’Neill playing at fullforward opened the scoring with a point from play quickly followed by a point from Mary.

Shortly after this Caragh got a chance in front of goal and made no mistake taking her first of two goals in the game.  Our defence was not tested too much in the first half, when the ball came their direction the half backs of Clodagh, Dearbhla Quirke and Laoise gave little space to their opponents.  Aine O’Sullivan, in goal,  pulled of some lovely saves as she has done all year.

The  full back line of Brid Sinnott, Ria Walsh and Sophie Lowham barely put a foot wrong and have developed into an impressive defensive line up.  With the girls in green, well actually the girls in white! as they played with jerseys turned inside out to avoid the clash of  colours, linking well together they finished the half with another point from Caragh, two from Sarah Barrett and two more from Mary leaving the halftime score at Na Gaeil 1-7 Ballyduff 0-1.

We faced a stiffer challenge in the second half playing into the breeze, Kay Barry and Isabelle Crowe battled hard and won a lot of breaking ball to keep the momentum with Na Gaeil.

Fresh legs from the subs were proving valuable on the large Caherslee pitch, Ciara DeRath and Muire Kingston taking turns at corner forward provided some lovely crosses and Muire picked of a great point herself.

On the other wing  Emily Crowe and  Eimer O’Sullivan were fighting hard for every ball and the work paid off with a lovely goal by Emily. We were not having it all our own way, Ballyduff were making a good comeback scoring three goals of their own but this could have been worse only for some resolute defending.

Freya O’Connor on as a sub provided much needed fresh legs in the half-backs.  Megan Fernane also on as a sub in corner-forward gave her counterpart a difficult time and was unfortunate not to get a couple of scores.

The girls through their great teamwork saw the game out and finished on a scoreline of Na Gaeil 4-11 Ballyduff 3-2. Clodagh and Laoise accepted the Shield and we all went back to the clubhouse  for a few treats. Special mention to Abi Casey who was injured and Kayla O’Brien who wasn’t available for the game, both played a major part in getting the team to the final.
