Review of our U13 boys season: Our U13 teams this year had a great year involving football development and huge fun along the way. We also had some new players join us this year and they added greatly to the group both as personalities and players. Our lads started training back in the last week of January in the MTU on the Astro and turned up for every training session regardless of weather and then returned to Na Gaeil field in March.

Numbers were huge and with a panel of almost forty players it meant training sessions were always enjoyable occasions. We trained twice a week throughout the whole year and when the matches commenced they were on Sunday evenings. Our large numbers allowed us to have two teams to enter competitions so every player had loads of football.

Training sessions were great but matches are vital for player development & also for the enjoyment in just playing.

In terms of achievements it was a fantastic year. We played phase one Division 2 Co. League and phase two we were in Div 1 Co. League. We had a lot of learnings from this which was a great benefit for the lads.

Our B team was outstanding in the Co. League and were deserving winners of same back in June. This was a huge occasion for this team and showed how strong a team they really were. Our A team won the Central Region Division 1 and also the Town League Division 1 competitions which were also huge achievements. This team grew as the year went on and had those successes at the latter end of the year so all their hard work paid off.

We also entered the Rose Cup and though we were not successful on the medal front it was yet again a great day out and the parents again came to the rescue with a fabulous spread of food and took turns in the catering throughout the day.

Both teams had over twenty matches between County League phase 1 and 2, Central Region and Town League. We also had two teams come down from Mallow in September which was a great fun day of football followed by food kindly brought by parents backed up by the club sponsoring them all pizzas.

All in all our U13’s this year should be very proud of themselves. They developed really well as footballers and achieved loads but also they developed as a team and friendships grew strong so hats off to them on their year. Simply a fantastic group of young players.

Notes: If you’d like anything included in the club’s weekly notes please send it to me at pro.nagaeil.kerry@gaa.ie before 9am on Monday and I’ll do my best to include it.
