TRALEE’S Cillian Tierney was thrilled to win his home triathlon, Tri Kingdom Come, on Saturday in Fenit in the impressive time of 58.17.
The 19-year old from the Spa is fast making a name for himself in the world of triathlon.
With a win both in King of the Hill in Kinsale and in Valentia this year, this weekend’s win is another success for the Tralee triathlete.
“This is better than winning any other race. The support at home is phenomenal and this is more important to me win for me than any other big race. I am delighted.”
Cillian lost out on winning last year’s triathlon by seconds so to win this year was an even bigger bonus.
The Tralee man is currently training under Lynn Alger who is putting him through his paces and he is hopeful of having a strong season this year including performing well in Triathlon Ireland’s Super Series.

Cillian is supported by local sponsors Surf N Sail and I-Bike and is grateful for their support.
He has just finished his Leaving Cert and his focus is now on triathlon and this weekend’s win is more proof that the Tralee man has what it takes to do well in the world of triathlon.
This weekend’s Tri Kingdom Come Triathlon had over 400 competitors taking part in Try-a-Tri and Sprint triathlons.
The perfect weather conditions and well organised event has been praised by participants and spectators and Tralee Triathlon Club are thrilled with the success of the event.
