Wind And Rain Warnings Issued For Kerry As Storm Diana Approaches

A STATUS Yellow Rainfall and Wind Warning has been issued for Kerry and many other counties to come into effect from early on Tuesday.

The warnings come in advance of Storm Diana which is expected to hit the country on Wednesday.

The rainfall warning is for Munster, Dublin, Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Wicklow, Galway and Mayo with heavy rainfall later tonight and for a time on Tuesday. 20-30mm is expected to fall over a short period, leading to some surface flooding. Higher totals are expected in mountainous areas. The warning is valid from Tuesday at 2am to :2pm that same day.

The Status Yellow Wind warning is for Munster, Dublin, Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Wicklow, Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo. Southeasterly winds will strengthen tonight and during Tuesday. Mean speeds of 50-65km/hr with gusts from 90-100km/hr expected, possibly higher along exposed coasts. The warning is valid from 3am on Tuesday to 3pm later that day.
