A NEW-LOOK CH, but it was the same old story with regard to capacity crowds at a special in-house event.
The first major show in CH Tralee since their impressive refurbishment was a big success with style and beauty tips galore.
“It’s a really informal night of fashion advice and beauty tricks,” said Sandra Rusk of Weardrobe prior to the start. “We’ll be talking about wearing everyday clothing with a twist and how to style things up. We have shoes from Walsh Brothers and Dowlings and Helen will be giving beauty tips,” she added.
Ladies were treated to a bubbly/soft drink reception before the show and there were loads of spot prizes and discounts on Lancome products. Scroll down for photos…
IT’S a charity event which has been going on for many years and even the closure of Caballs earlier this year won’t stop the annual St Vincent de Paul Toy appeal.
Ann Laide of Caballs did sterling work with Treasa Walsh and Marian Moore to make sure local children in need had a happy Christmas with a gift from their Santa’s list and now the staff of a newly opened toy store have taken up the mantle.
Sharon Sheehan and all at ‘Toys Upstairs’ above Kelliher’s Hardware on Rock Street, have joined forces with SVP for this Christmas.

“It’s the same idea as the previous years with Caballs Toymaster,” said Treasa Walsh, who co-ordintates the appeal once again with Marian Moore.
“You can buy a voucher which will be given to St Vincent de Paul or there’s also a donation box on the counter if people would prefer to give cash to help buy a present. With the help of Sharon and the rest of the staff here in ‘Toys Upstairs’, we hope people will make it a success again this year,” said Treasa.
“We are delighted to help out,” said Sharon Sheehan. “The appeal was always a success and it’s a local charity, so you want all the children to be happy at Christmas and receive a gift they ask for,” she added.
It’s always been a great success, so please give what you can to the appeal to ensure a local child’s Christmas will be a happy one.

MEMBERS of a local bike club were at the Palliative Care Day Care Unit on Friday to present the proceeds of a recent event to Kerry Hospice.
The Kingdom Knights which has about 20 members, invited bikers from all over Ireland and beyond for a rally at Banna Beach Hotel and raised €1,500 for the charity.
“We held it in Banna at the start of October. It was a big rock night with bikers from all over the country and England and Wales,” said Mike Browne, who explained his mother Hanna was in palliative care and many of the lads in the club would know people who were cared for there.
“We’re really appreciative of the efforts of the lads,” said Joe Hennebery of the Kerry Hospice Foundation. “€1,500 is a great contribution and they were saying they might do something again for the hospice next year.”

Question:I am due to have a baby in three months and have planned to take maternity leave. Am I entitled to any more paid leave to look after the baby?
Answer: Parent’s leave is a new statutory entitlement for parents that allows each parent 2 weeks paid leave for a child born or adopted on or after 1 November 2019.
