THE Kerry Cancer Support Group – Kerry Health Link Bus were recently presented with a cheque for €7,000 as part of a fundraising event held in New York City last month.

Patricia O’Sullivan McGill, who is currently based in the US city, is the woman who decided to set up the fundraiser for the bus as a thank you present to the service which her south Kerry mother Mary had availed of in the past.

Patricia organised her campaign and even recruited the services of a Kerry team that are based across the pond, for a fundraiser, the ‘Kerry Football Club Of New York’s’ annual dinner, on April 25.

A whole host of prizes were raffled off on the night including a framed signed Kerry jersey and an O’Neill’s football signed by the Spillane brothers in an engraved glass case.

Patricia flew home on Thursday last to deliver the cheque in person and presented it to members of the Kerry Cancer Support Group in the Ashe Hotel in Tralee on Friday morning, with Patricia’s mother Mary and her sister Louise also present.

The Tralee based bus is a free service that takes those that are suffering from cancer – and might not have any other way of getting to their treatment – up to Cork University Hospital (CUH) and back again.

The service is open to anyone that needs to avail of it and operates from Monday to Friday.

For any more information on the service, you can find it on the Kerry Cancer Support Website by clicking here.
