THERE has been amazing interest in the revived Tralee Inter-Firm soccer blitz, particularly in the over 35s competition.

Inter-firm soccer was hugely popular from the 60s right through to the late 1990s, when the Low Field would be packed with spectators watching the action on summer evenings.

“We have teams travelling from Cork and all over Kerry, as well as strong support from the town of Tralee. Over 20 teams had signed up within two days of the launch,” said Pa Daly, one of the organisers of the one-day competition in aid of cancer charities, which takes place on Saturday, October 8.

“We plan to have the final stages of both competitions in the Low Field from 5pm on the Saturday. Many thanks to local clubs and Tralee Sports Complex for use of their facilities,” said Pa.

There are still a couple of spaces open and if any other teams wish to enter, they should contact Eoin Kelliher on 087-2992392 or Karl Keohane on 086-1004263.
