TRALEE saw a rise in the number of jobless in January for the second month in a row.
The number of people signing on the Live Register rose to 4,552, an increase of 38 on December’s figure. The figure was down 12 percent on January 2016’s number of 5,186.
Countywide there were 11,106 jobless, rising for the fourth month in a row and a three per cent increase (up 330) in the numbers signing on between December and January.

In Kerry’s other six social welfare offices, Killarney was up 170 to 2,021; Listowel’s was up eight to 2,006; Killorglin was up two to 842; Kenmare rose 88 to 531; Dingle rose 19 to 703, Caherciveen rose by five to 451.
