Press Release – STRICT EMBARGO 8am Tuesday 13th February 2024

Kerry Airport Announces Three Summer Holiday Destinations In France With Chalair

KERRY Airport is delighted to announce that Chalair will return to the Kingdom to service three routes to popular summer holiday destinations in France commencing from 29th June 2024.

Passengers can look forward to 13 weekly flights between Kerry and Brest in Brittany and Caen in Normandy and 10 weekly flights to Pau near the Pyrénées until early and late September respectively.

Such was the success of last summer’s weekly service to Brittany, Chalair decided to introduce flights to two more regions in France.

The Kerry Airport CEO, John Mulhern, said “The news that Chalair has decided to operate a weekly service to France again this summer and with that, the introduction of three routes in Brittany, Normandy and The Pyrénées. It was important that flights returned in light of the positive feedback from passengers who travelled between Kerry and France last year and the potential that exists to develop the routes further. We’re expecting lots of French visitors to come to Kerry to explore the Kingdom and realise that this is an extraordinary oasis here in the southwest of Ireland."

The introduction of weekly flights to Caen in Normandy coincides with the 80th Anniversary of the D-day landings that led to the beginning of the end of World War 2.

"Normandy is not only remembered for being the location for one of the most important events in modern history, it is an incredibly beautiful place to visit and I hope the people of that region will appreciate what there is to offer when they travel to Kerry," said John Mulhern.

Chalair’s CEO, Alain Battisti, expressed his enthusiasm on announcing his airline’s return to Kerry, “Chalair is proud to expand its flight links with Kerry this summer. We were overwhelmed by the positive feedback from our passengers who visited Kerry in 2023. This influenced our decision to resume the ‘French connection’ and to increase the destination offerings to three in 2024. We see your destinations as a launching pad to visit the beautiful County Kerry and the wider southwest of Ireland. These areas remain popular destinations for French tourists from the West and South of France and we wish them safe travels and happy holidays in 2024.”

Flights to/from Brittany, Caen and Pau are available from 29th June and can be booked now at en.Chalair.fr.

These new destinations from Kerry to Brest in Brittany, Caen in Normandy and Pau near the Pyrénées will bring to 10 the number of routes that will be available to passengers for the summer months.

Kerry Airport already serves Alicante, Faro, Dublin, London (Luton & Stansted), Manchester and Frankfurt Hahn with Ryanair.

For more information, contact Kerry Airport during office hours on 066 9764644 or visit www.KerryAirport.ie.

About the destinations:

Brest in Brittany is a port city with a strong military history and is home to Océanopolis, a huge ocean discovery centre that is the only one of its kind in Europe. Brest has a lot to offer those who love shopping with designer fashions and large department stores as well as wine cellars, delicatessens and several great markets selling everything from cheeses, meats and fruit and vegetables to crafts and antiques. Don't miss out on trying some of the excellent seafood, caught locally, as well as the traditional Breton crêpes and cidre.

Caen, the hometown of William the Conqueror, is ideally located in the heart of Normandy, two hours from Paris and just 10 minutes away from its historic beaches. It is a lively and dynamic city with museums, stunning architecture, shopping and walks.

Pau is the gateway to the Pyrénées. The town itself is in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department of Aquitaine, about an hour north of the Pyrenees mountains. Pau invites all who venture here to embark on an unforgettable journey through a land where history, culture, and nature intertwine in perfect harmony.

Kerry Mental Health Association Joins Tralee & Killarney Chambers To Promote Workplace Wellbeing

KERRY Mental Health Association has joined Tralee Chamber Alliance and Killarney Chamber of Tourism & Commerce with a view to promoting workplace wellbeing in Kerry’s two largest towns.

Workplace Wellbeing relates to all aspects of working life, from the quality and safety of the physical environment, to how workers feel about their work, their working environment, the climate at work and work organization.

The General Manager of Kerry Mental Health Association, John Drummey, said, “Kerry Mental Health Association is cementing its links with the business communities in Tralee, as Kerry’s Capital, and Killarney, as the number 1 tourism destination in Ireland. We are committed to constantly reviewing and updating our programme of activities, to respond to the local and county needs. We expect that our membership of the chambers in Tralee and Killarney will help us reach a wider audience when developing and delivering mental health training programmes and activities in the future. It is also our wish, with more access to networks such as the chambers of commerce in both towns, to see more people get involved with us as volunteers.”

The primary objective of Kerry Mental Health Association is to promote the general welfare of people and to support those with mental health challenges and/or their families and carers.
Kerry Mental Health Association is active in many other towns and districts with eight branches currently operational throughout the county. Kerry Mental Health Association also operates as an Approved Housing Body, with residences in Tralee, Killarney, Listowel, Killorglin, Rathmore and Caherciveen providing housing for people living with mental ill-health who are on the county council housing list.

The President of Tralee Chamber Alliance, Stephen Stack and the Joint-Presidents of Killarney Chamber of Tourism & Commerce, Pádraig Treacy and Johnny McGuire have welcomed Kerry Mental Health Association’s membership of the two organisations.
